Is there someone in the audience who knows what date 9/11 is in the Islamic calendar (lunar)? Does it bear any significance?
Also, does anyone know when Romedon (sp?) is? Has it already passed for this (solar) year?
Just wondering

Don’t know about your first question.
About your second question - Ramadan usually happens around December in the Gregorian calendar (it’s a month-long observance). For 2001, the fasting starts at the break of dawn on November 17.

Ramadan – and all Islamic holidays, are not fixed in relation to the solar calendar. Specifically, they move backwards 11 days each solar year. This is because their lunar calendar is 11 days shorter than our solar calendar (the Jewish Calendar is identical AFAIK except that it includes a correction that inserts a “leap month” every 3rd year. This keeps Jewish holidays more or less aligned with the seasons.)
In other words, in 2002, Ramadan will begin around Nov 6, in 2003 it will begin around Oct 25, etc.
Someone will happen by with more details in a minute (they always do) but I am sure that Ramadan is a moveable feast since the Moslem year is lunar.
Ah. I see Hello Again has already been here.
Anyway, Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic year and it represents the Moslem lent. It is also the month in which the Koran was revealed.
Yikes. I stand corrected. It migrates earlier relative to the Gregorian calendar every year.
