Israel losing Battle of the Wombs - Will Arab population overwhelm Israel in time?

That’ll never happen. There’s too many fringe groups and factions. PLO leadership has no control or policing of its own people.

Suicide bombers attack, Israeli leadership says to Arafat, “Control thy people.” Arafat can say to his people “Stop the suicide bombings” all he wants, but he’s got no way to enforce it. Who’s fault is that? Israeli leadership. They want the PLO to control the Palestinian populous, but give them no means of doing so.

My point is, Palestinian statehood won’t happen from within-- at least not with their current method of operation, being violence-- it’ll take outside help. But then again, Palestinian allies couldn’t do it with war in '68, '73, et al.

Their best bet is to all become Israeli citizens, run for Knesset, take control of it, and go from there.

I’m not saying that’s the best solution, after all where would that leave the Jews. I’m not anti-Israel/Jew/Zionist, so this plan does not carry the Lendervedder Seal of Approval by any means.

[sub]I don’t need no stinkin’ Mossad ops paying me no late night visits. looks around heh heh[/sub]

Israel does not have a constitution. It has a series of Basic Laws passed by Knesset, that can only be amended by a strict majority (iow 61 votes out of 120). Therefore your question is answered - any time a group of people can muster 61 votes, they can do what ever they want.

Wow, rampisad, that surprises me! I’d have thought that, in founding their country, they’d have built in some protections against future mischief. The Israeli Jews still outnumber the Israeli Arabs by 4 to 1 (if the CIA 2002 factbook is to be believed), but if I were an Israeli Jew, I think I’d start worrying about it soon.

I am an Israeli Jew, and I am worried sick for my grandchildren. The problem is much deeper than just the Jewish/Arab question. The reason we can’t resolve all the issues is that the Arab states and the terrorists won’t leave us alone (and never have), so we have to keep fighting just to stay alive. How do you make rational long-term decisions when you have a gun to your head!

They won’t become Israeli citiziens. Even if they wanted to, Israel has no intent to grant Isralei citizenship to the Palestinian living in the occupied territories. If only precisely because in this case they would be outnumbered.
