Or that sliver of land in France (Strasbourg, et al) that used to be part of Germany. Hmm, no-fly zones over Mexico City? Now there’s an interesting thought…
If the nations of North/South America were plagued with terrorist Native groups, I’d agree. Of course we’d have to tear down our infrastructure, gather up all the horses, etc. (we’ll let them keep the casinos.)
And would have been soundly trounced, if it weren’t for the massive military & financial support of the U.S. and other nations. Plus I don’t think the Arabs could be called the aggressors in those various massacres where Israeli soldiers walked in and killed 100’s of unarmed civilians (which of course never gets mentioned in the U.S. media…)
And, of course, the Arabs received no help from anyone else. I agree that Israel has done some atrocious things. But the reason the US has supported Israel is because we have a crazy idea that democracy is a good thing. Israel might not be completely democratic, but it’s the closest thing in the area. Of course, the USSR had to back the other side (that was the nature of the game then), so the whole mess became tied to the Cold War.
I’m not going to be much help - I can only say (no sarcasm) that logic fails every time when this issue comes up - too much emotion involved in the conflict. “It’s our land, get them out!” is the cry from both sides. How can you try to find a logical solution? What can possibly be “fair” to both sides?
The people called “Palestinians” today are truly puppets used to stir the conflicts, and left without a real home for generations. The Israeli (Jews) feel they must take steps to have a secure homeland. What happens when you try to reconcile the needs of the two peoples is constant conflict. Where is the logic here?
Is this the only place in the world where this kind of thing goes on? Of course not, it just happens to be very visible. Sorry quicky, you get no help from me.
