I recently watched the film in 3D – I got the DVD and the anaglyphic glasses (the only way I’ve ever seen it in 3D, although, like most 3D movies of the time, it was released with polarized glasses). It still hangs together well, and the 3D effects work pretty well and aren’t absurd.
I suppose I’m not surprised they made this into a musical – we’ve had Little Shop of Horrors, Return to Forbidden Planet, Plane Nine from Outer Space, and Metropolis. Why not It Came from Outer Space?
