Peta, I love that movie, too. Last year I bought “It’s a Wonderful Life”, “Miracle on 34th Street” (the old one, not the remake), and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (animated, NOT Jim Carrey). Those are all classics that I must watch each Christmas season.
Its still a bit too warm on most recent days to feel like Christmas here. I’m in the middle of moving so needless to say - decorating is not on my list of things to do anytime soon. Though I did buy my first present of the year today - so I’m heads over where I usually am this time of year.
Well, it shouldn’t. Christmas is December 25, and (as of now) it is November 26.
Just because the evil marketing people would have you ignore the existence of Thanksgiving, and sometimes Halloween, doesn’t mean you have to comply.
For me, the Christman season doesn’t start until Advent. Maybe because I’m, you know, Catholic.
Central Indiana has also been way too warm for it to be almost December. Weekend before last we put up the house lights while wearing a t-shirt & jeans (nuh-uh - not climbing over ashphalt shingles in shorts!)
Mr. Pol said the weirdest thing this weekend was putting up the Christmas tree while watching the NASCAR race!

FYI: The race scheduled for the weekend after 9/11 was postponed to this past Friday (the first available weekend)It was in New Hampshire, where they were actually expecting it to be much colder & had chosen tires for that situation. However, the temps were in the hi-50’s/low 60’s & the tires got too hot and either blistered or outright blew, causing problems for a lot of racers.
{Yes, I know much more about stock-car racing than I EVER planned to - that and football, baseball, hockey…}

Yeah, I am too. But I believe that Advent starts this coming Sunday, right? I actually remembered to buy my candles this year.
It still needs to cool off-it felt like late September today.
Snow EVERYWHERE! We’re expecting a foot by tomorrow. It’s cold and windy and wet and yucky and I don’t like it one bit!!! It just started this morning and I’ve already seen a couple dozen cars in the ditch, flipped over, smashed in…
I hate winter.
Chilled in Minnesota
I’m glad I’m going back to New York in mid-December. I don’t think I’ll ever feel like it’s Christmas down here in Mississippi. Since I plan to live in the South (maybe I’ll move to East Texas, maybe I’ll go somewhere else, but I’m never returning to New York to stay), I suppose I ought to get used to it… but this is my first year, and I need snow.
On the other hand, I’m extremely happy that I’m only going to be VISITING the snow for Christmas. I’ll be there for two weeks and then I get to LEAVE and go back where it’s WARM! And my old high school friends are going to be very jealous of me, because when I go back down south to spend my birthday with my love and have no snow and not wear a down-filled parka… they’re going to be stuck in snowdrifts for ten more weeks!! bwahahahahaha
Oh Lord No!!! I live in E. Tx and let me tell ya, the weather here is awful! Today was 75 degrees, and yet we are under a winter storm watch. Tomorrow is gonna be in the mid 40’s then ice, snow and sleet on Wed. I would kill to be somewhere that the weather would be at least consistant…lol
