It finally arrived! (my star trek enterprise model)

Dayum. That’s a beautiful piece of art. These evening pics really show it off.

Shame they couldn’t have made those braces less obtrusive. Maybe transparent lucite rods? 0.01" steel rods? Roughly what does the model, or model plus base, weigh?

Great apartment too. Love seeing the lake out the window. If I was a Chicagoan we’d be nearby neighbors for sure

Not like Star Trek? Where are you finding these horrible women?!

The shipping box says:

GW - 25.3 lbs
NW - 15.3 lbs

Guessing gross weight with all the packaging. Does that mean the net weight (I assume is NW) is the model itself? The box and packing were substantial. Not a small model and a goofy shape with lots of pieces easy to break off so it had a lot of protection.

Anyway…certainly well north of ten pounds. It is not very heavy but has some heft to it.

I agree. They bug me too. I hope someone who knows how makes a third-party stand to sell that is sturdy enough to do away with the struts. I’d buy it (although the stand has some controllers in it and power to work the lighting into different modes…not sure TOMY will share that info so might not be so easy).

Beautiful model.

I can get a rough sense of scale from the other items in the photo. Please give the overall dimensions of the ship not including the stand (nearest whole inch is sufficient).

Sure:

1:350 scale measuring approximately 34.29 inches in length, 16.00 inches in width, and 11.15 inches in height (not including the stand).

I hope you got both of your dorsal intermix shaft markings!

I do have that BUT some of my guns will not fire!

Already sent a letter to TOMY about it but don’t expect a response till sometime next week.

Seems a small thing but this is an expensive model and to have any re-sale value it needs to be perfect. I waited 18 months and they had my money the whole time. I want this fixed.

It is possible I am not working the controls right. They are a bit cryptic and the interface kinda sucks. I hope it is only that. We’ll see.

Honestly though, except for re-sale value I do not care overly much about the guns. Fun to play with once or twice but mostly will go unused. That does not absolve them of making this right though.

I have a Revell 1/96 scale Saturn V model kit (in the original box, in the original Revell shipping box). I don’t think I’ll ever build it, so I should sell it. Any idea what they’re going for nowadays?

Is it this one? This is opened and asking $250:

This one is asking $125:

 Holy schnoikies! Yes, that’s the one. Mine is also open, but unbuilt. It’s in the original box, and that box is in an original Revell shipping box. I also have a 1/96 paper Launch Umbilical Tower (LUT) kit, and I saved the instructions as a .pdf file.

Here’s one in a sealed box for $175 (+$25 shipping) so grain of salt. It’s E-Bay afterall.

Thank you. It looks like it’s worth at least $125. I should list it on eBay one of these days. (Unless someone knows someone who is looking for one. :stuck_out_tongue: )

So this just came through my YouTube feed. I’m subscribed to his channel because he’s a filk singer.

Improved spotlights for the Tomy 1:350 Enterprise Refit model (5 minutes)

@Whack-a-Mole Very cool Enterprise!! She sure looks sweet. And I love the lights. 15lbs is pretty hefty. And 34¼” long? That’s a very nice size.

That’s the NCC-1701-A version, correct? Is it marked with the A on it? Because from your pics I did not see that. (Was the A ever marked that, in any of the shows / movies?)

And, I second what @susan says, that this is a test to find the right kind of woman.

Actually no.

The Enterprise refit that is this model was a switch from TOS (the original series) to the movies. The TOS Enterprise from the TV show never died (it did as the refit).

Technically, this IS the Enterprise that James T. Kirk commanded in the 70’s TV show (and Pike). Just with some plastic surgery (and presumably some upgrades…in canon I think only the Enterprise got this facelift…maybe one other ship…it was too expensive/time consuming versus just making a whole new ship).

The -A version was what came after the death of this ship.

Aaah, thank you for that reminder!

Wait, so, this ship is what went to VGER in the first ST The Motion Picture? With Saavik (Kirstie Alley, R.I.P.) and the Kobayashi Maru scenario? Or am I mixing up my ST movies?

How many of us grew up wanting our own Enterprises?!

Remember the metal one (approx 1-2” long) in ST:TOS hanging from a chain, dangled over the burning candle in the episode maybe called Cat’s Paw or Cat’s Meow or something like that? Me and my brothers, we all wanted that one!

Please forgive if my memory is faulty. It’s only been 40 some of years since the first motion picture, and 60 since the ST:TOS.

Sure is.

Here is the first reveal of the Enterprise refit in the first movie (Star Trek: The Motion Picture)

Before I press Play (gotta run to the gym!), ohhh, I remember that scene vividly! She was beautiful. I can still hear the music.

Dude, I have no idea where you live but man oh man I’d love to see your NCC-1701!

STAR TREK Dope Fest, anyone? Sorry @Whack-a-Mole , I don’t mean to barge into your life! :innocent:

Off to the gym…
