It is implausible that pchaos is a lawyer and he should stop claiming to be one

Um, friend, that would be “subjective”, or “faith-based”.

And to me, that’s a false dichotomy.
Oh, and by the way, I’m right. Objectively.

Two quick questions:

  1. Your friend is a lesbian?
  2. You believe that God wants you to repress your own emotions, because it would somehow be more of a comfort for your friend to feel alone in her grief (the friend is a “her”, right?) than to know that her wife was loved, and will be mourned, by many?

Sorry, one more:

  1. What does this have to do with… anything?

That doesn’t speak very well for your alma mater.

This sums up your failures pretty well.

What? Your friend wants you to console his dead wife? Are you sure the friend doesn’t want you to console him?

You could ask that in response to everything pchaos says. Every time he sees an argument fail or gets asked a question he can’t answer, he changes the subject. Sometimes he even has to go back and rewrite his own explanations of his beliefs in the process.

You also do séances?

Capital “He”. You know, the Big Guy Upstairs. He’s the one who wants the consolation to happen, but who “she” is is still unclear. Dead wife? Lesbian friend? Mouse in his pocket?

Beats me, I’ve been wondering what’s the point of this thread. Okay, I suppose some people are mad that I don’t take this MB serious enough. Fair enough, what can I do to make people happier? Just don’t ask me to logical.

You can leave - you can clearly never be logical.

People are annoying at you for being so dumb.

That’s even better than “To me that is objective.” But if you’d said this in your first post, we probably wouldn’t be here.

Man, weird duck day at the Dope. Do we have any conspiracy theorists or pet hoarders available? I’m two crackpots shy of a royal flush.

Some people just like poking the jackass with a stick

Can we ask you to peaches?

There’s this great word that’s entered the American English vernacular from some fellow monotheists: chutzpah.

Unfortunately, the JFK conspiracy theorists stopped posting in the last couple days. We almost had one with the Russian meteor but, alas, it looks not to be.

If you want people to stop giving you shit, then don’t post any more shit in this thread, pchaos. Letting this thread die is the best thing you can do; it works. Just hang out in IMHO or MPSIMS for a while, where you’re protected from personal insults. That’s what I did when people gave me shit about McDojos.

Actually, while at CAL, I had the Head of the English Dept. tell me personally, that after looking at my writing he thought that I would never make it through law school. In spite of his refusal to give me a recommendation, I went to law school anyway.

To make it this far you need to have chutzpah. You need to persist even when the Judge and other attorneys tell you, you are way off-base.

pchaos: I think it’s painfully obvious that you don’t understand the first thing about god, religion, faith or any topic which might even be remotely related and I’m not sure why anyone here continues to engage you. The fact that you want to use your own special “vocabulary” should be sufficient to dismiss you as a worthless opponent but in the process you also manage to cast thoughtful theists in the most unfavorable light possible.

Faith, by it’s very nature is a struggle. Only a very few are blessed with life-changing experiences that cement their faith beyond all question and doubt and even in those cases their faith is still tested.

You talk about belief as if it’s like shopping for a new microwave. If you don’t like what you’re getting from your local congregation, then go shopping somewhere else. I don’t think anything else you could have said shows the extent to which you completely miss the point.

The reason most people never question their faith is because it’s compartmentalized. For all practical purposes, there is no significant difference between the atheist and the Sunday churchgoer because the latter never allows his or her faith to actually impinge upon daily decisions or activities. This is the category you fall into.

You say that your actions are inspired by god but you have no concept whatsoever of what god or even faith is. All you have is some amorphous notion of what you believe is right and wrong which you make up as you go along and you pretend that “god” is going to back you up on these decisions.

Your “theology” is such a sloppy ball of dust bunnies and spittle that you don’t deserve to be the subject of any serious discussion.

Yet another word for which you don’t know the definition.

It’s been described as “that quality enshrined in a man who, having killed his mother and father, throws himself on the mercy of the court because he is an orphan.”

Nobody needs that.

Persisting, despite a Judge’s say-so? And you wonder why people don’t believe you’re a lawyer?

And now you’ve decided you don’t like being a lawyer and are going to do something else. Ever think perhaps he was right?

But if he thought your writing was terrible and that you would never be able to coherently express yourself, he was correct.

In the trial court you would say, “Your Honor, you are full of it.”

But think about it, when you are going to the Court of Appeals, isn’t that a polite way of saying the earlier judge didn’t get it right.

afuckingmazing.

Try that and tell us what happens. After you get out, of course.
