It’s all about SELF INTEREST people……

No one is happier than I to see the Iraqi people free from Saddam. I was talking shit about Saddam and the US role in his rise to power back when most of you hawks were fucking clueless about any world affair that took place in the Middle East. Come to think of it most of you are still fucking clueless about it. But, listen up shitbricks… We didn’t invade Iraq to benefit the Iraqi people; you’re only fooling yourselves. We went in for our own benefit. We delegitimized the UN and NATO, bought off a few token backers, and bombed the fuck out an army half the size of the one we bombed the fuck out of 12 years ago for three reasons:

1. Bush and his band of scheming fuckwits think that attacking Iraq will strike a blow to the support and infrastructure Anti-American terrorists rely on.

Pakistan is brimming with terrorists, so is Syria, Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Lebanon, Yemen, Iran, and dozens of other countries have powerful anti-American contingents. Let’s just say we did decide to take each and every one of them on – who knows maybe our military could handle the job and our economy could stand the burden – doubtful, but even if we could, won’t we have to do it all over again when the fucking orphans we leave behind grow up? Should we just massacre anyone brown that looks at us funny? Do you really believe the world is a safer place for Americans now? Conflict begets conflict.

2. Oil production in Iraq was stifled by our sanctions, now we can bring things back up to speed and start pumping at full bore for our thirsty SUVs, at friendly prices. Not to mention Halliburton is getting a $7 billion contract for post-war oil well repairs.

This is precisely the kind of unbridled pursuit of self-interests that helped spawn violent anti-American sentiment in the first place. The US kicked the Mossedeq out of Iran over oil, installed a brutal tyrant the Shah in his place over oil, defended Kuwait to protect an oil rich ally, we are in bed with the fucked up Saudi royal family over oil. Not everything in the Middle East revolves around oil, but when one region of the world posses two-thirds of know oil reserves big, oil dependent states have a stake in its political makeup. It’s more than a fucking coincidence.

3. Bush thought Saddam had biological weapons that he was preparing to attack us with.

I never doubted Saddam had them, but I questioned why he would use them. Things were pretty cushy for him, while his people were starving under our sanctions, he was living in high style in one of his many palaces. Why go and fuck up a good situation like that? Oil for food my fucking ass. He was probally trading tons of grain for grams of foie gras and Kristal, but I didn’t hear a single one of you vociferous asshats say a fucking peep on September 10th. You didn’t give a shit about these people before your own ass was on the line. And here we are almost a month into this conflict and still no sign of the weapons Iraq was supposedly knee deep in.

That’s it, you had your war and I’m glad you fucking enjoyed it, but don’t give me this bullshit like it’s all about FREEDOM. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Perhaps I’ll listen to you when you consider that you are not the only one who has been monitoring the situation over there.

Dumbass.

I thought the title gave it away, but this thread was a veiled attack at the author of this thread, and anyone who thinks like its author.

If you aren’t someone who fits the category, and have done some reading about the Middle East as well, good for you. But frankly, I’m inclined to believe the two are mutually exclusive.

BTW, Ashtar I don’t know what planet you live on, but what makes you think everyone is an individual? Haven’t you ever heard a Rush Limbaugh fan call in?

Can’t say I have. I don’t listen to that tripe.
