"It should be classified as illegal, but shouldn't be treated as illegal."

If it was unavoidable that would be one thing, but allowing our land border to be unprotected and our airports and seaports to be strictly monitored is a choice we make. And it is actually unfair to Eastern hemisphere would-be immigrants.

Either enforce the line or get rid of the line.

If the future demographic change wasn’t predicted to be democrat favoring the wall would have been built years ago.

No it wouldn’t because the wall is a stupid fucking idea.

Actually, back in the 1960s-1990s when the white vote was up for grabs, there was a strong consensus in both parties that border control was extremely important. Maybe not a wall, but even as late as the 2000s Democrats were eager to get on board the Secure Fence Act. In 2006, they had grave concerns about immigration reform because they thought it would give corporations too much cheap labor and squeeze low income Americans out of the job market. Today, they don’t even want to deport felons or prevent illegal hiring.

The Democrats are simply responding to demographic change and the fact that whites have left the party.

Republicans are reacting to that same change, just in a different way. Don’t act like this immigration hysteria is not about preserving GOP power.

Also “whites have left the party” is not true. Perhaps some have, but I try to stay away from making sweeping statements about large groups of people. They are almost always false.

If that’s why they left, good riddance.

They left for many reasons, forcing Democrats to pander to voting blocs that are tough to turn out under the best of circumstances.

The white vote is now very close to being as Republican as the Latino vote is Democrat. For working class whites it’s already that bad for Democrats. It won’t be long before the union leaders are forced to support the GOP candidates their rank and file want them to.

Actually, neither the white nor the Latino vote have shifted significantly over the last 30 years. Bill Clinton got almost 50% of the white vote and Bush II got almost 50% of the Hispanic vote, but otherwise the parties’ shares have been pretty stagnant. Trump actually did better than Romney (relative to their opponents) among blacks and Hispanics, though it might be more accurate to say that Clinton did worse than Obama.

It’s not that the Democrats draw more Hispanic votes than they used to. It’s that there are more Hispanic voters, period.

Your first sentence is incorrect. Trump won among white voters by 21 points; Clinton won among Hispanic voters by 36 points.

I don’t know about all that. You think that union leaders would be supporting candidates that want to destroy unions?

Maybe not a literal wall. However, the de-facto open border stance would definitely not be the case.
