It tastes like sin, why do people eat it?

As much as I love herbal tea of every stripe, that still made me laugh.

My entry for this list: everything spicy. Why do people like it so freaking much?

Amen, agree completely.

Green beans. I can make myself eat them, but I’d rather not. They’re a lot better when they’re roasted/browned in the oven, which helps get rid of the greenbeany taste, but that’s a pretty recent innovation. Why would people *knowingly *make a casserole out of them and serve it at Thanksgiving?

I am confused by “tastes like sin,” because sinful things are delicious.

Just to squick people out: I like sweet potatoes mixed with beets.

Pickles. All pickles. Dill, sweet, bread & butter, whatever… it matters not. They all taste awful to me.

Avocado.

Wasabi.

The big three for me are all popular items with what seems to be the rest of the world:

Bananas
Pickles
Coconut

Those three I hate, but another popular one I don’t care for much is watermelon.

Peanut butter.
I like peanuts, satay sauce, cant get enough of that stuff but crack the lid on a jar of skippy or sun pat and I am gagging.
Marmite however is the ambrosia of the gods.

olives of any type.

blue cheeses. eh, make that any strongly-flavored cheese.

I smelled that stuff on a trip to china - no - no you don’t - trust me.

To this Yankee, sweet tea is disgustingly cloying.

Tea should be served black (or green?) No sweetener, no milk. Just delicious bitter alkaloids.

Tea is so good when people don’t ruin it ;D

Batting 100% so far. Yummy foods.

Durian. Evil, evil fruit.

Liver, although maybe that’s not as popular as I think it is.

Eggs – UNLESS they’re scrambled, or an omelet (since an omelet is basically scrambled eggs anyways). But any other way? Ick!

I love the taste of sin in the morning. It tastes like … Victory.

Reading the incredible variance in replies here, it so interesting to think WHAT actually goes into determining a person’s particular tastes. Perhaps some may have slight nutritional or vitamin deficiencies which predispose them to prefer unusual foods? Or maybe there is some psychological aspects involved? IDK, but I HATE cooked mushrooms. The raw variety I actually can enjoy every now and then, but once they are cooked, I can’t even smell them without my stomach turning a little. Cooked mushrooms and soymilk. Ewww.

Really hot, spicy food. I want to taste flavor, not singe my tastebuds off.

Avacado. Tried it several times. Bleh.

Runny eggs. >shudder<

I never could stand the idea of carrot cakes (hated biting into carrot strands) until I tried Trader Joe’s recently… yummy… who woulda thunk?

Mushrooms

Oh escargot, I tried enough times but just can’t do it… barf.

And any internal organs except sausage casings I guess.
