It tried, but it didnt make it accross the road... (sad story)

I saw this today… the poor thing, I’m still thinking about it, its been on my mind all day. I wasnt even able to hardly concentrate at work.

I saw it on my way to work, a 40 minute congested traffic drive. Maybe it was the lowered visablity today, there was steady 55 mph winds today, and this being the desert made big dust and sand clouds, it was similar to nuclear winter today. Maybe it was just the scary sound of the wind. Regardless, it was moving and moving fast. I dont even think it PAUSED at the road… a six lane divided (busier then hell) road. I dont know if things of this nature have the ability to think and comprehend or anticipate danger… but obviously if it did… it disregarded all warnings. It ALMOST made it!!! Almost, in fact nearly three quarters of the way across (into my side of traffic).

There wasnt even the squeel of brakes. Trust me though, that wouldnt have helped. The driver of that city municipl truck must have known that. He hit it square on the grill. I looked on in horror as the poor thing was literaly smashed, shattered, and thrown under the wheels. The poor broken thing was scattered it was all over the place, I swear to you I am not lying, parts of it covered all three lanes of our side.

I was in the lane to the side of the truck and behind it. I had to drive through the aftermath… I felt like screaming.
I never thought I could feel those emotions for something that wasnt even human, but today I have learned that I can and do… I wish I could have done more for that poor tumbleweed, now it will never scatter its seeds.

You made me laugh.

Hahahahaha!

I love tumbleweed and any mention of it.

Hah! You didn’t fool me! Probably because I’ve been a tumbleweed killer before. It’s really cool, they just kinda explode and don’t hurt your car or anything.

Ah, tumbleweeds! It never snows in Lancaster, CA for Christmas. When I lived there, people would stack tumbleweeds to make desert-style “snowmen”.

My GOD! My threads are the kiss of death! Thank you to all who replied, but I just found this at the bottom of PAGE 4!!. Page 4. Sigh. I’ve never seen a post fall so fast… poor poor post… you were born to die…

B…can I call you B? B, that tumbleweed knew what it was doing. It was fulfilling its destiny. It had reach the point of time in its life when it need to reproduce and die. It’s nature’s way. Do you try to stop the salmon from swimming upstream, even though you know that it will only spawn and die? No, of course not. Don’t feel bad. The tumbleweed wanted it this way.

Though, maybe it would help if you got another tumble weed. There should be some people outside grocerie stores with some adorable baby tumble weeds looking for a good home.

Poor dear post, dear sad post, alas post I knew you,
farewell my pretty, roam free in the land were every poster is a Singledad and all modems are 112k.

R.I.P

::Snifff:: Sad, sad story. :: sniff:: So very sad. Tis a cruel world indeed…

B_Line, the least you could have done would have been to collect the remains and provide it a proper burial. Sheesh!
