It was a BAD day today (for repeat TV)

OK, this concerns older shows that are seen in syndication.

First up: Quincy, M.E. I loved this show as a kid - I think it’s the precursor to shows like CSI. Anyhow, today’s episode didn’t even have that unstoppable ladies man Jack Klugman. Ever! It was a sad attempt at giving poor Sam the spotlight (even though he was overshadowed by a guest star Japanese doctor). But the worst offense of all: a guest doctor was played by Col Hogan! (Bob Crane) I turn on Quincy only to see Col Hogan trying to play a doctor? Give me a break!!

But trust me, it gets worse.

Later in the day, I switch on Knight Rider (4PM Central on SciFi). Once again, this show hit at just the right time for me - meaning I was just about to get my driver’s license and that new Firebird looked pretty damn cool. Watching it now I realize that it pretty much sucks, but let’s get to the point: on today’s episode an airplane gets hijacked (and of course lands in some part of the California desert, otherwise how could KITT and Michael save the day?) with one of the main characters (Bonnie) on board. The person sitting next to her on the flight is…cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch!! YGTBSM!! And the creepy thing is that Oliver was about 14, and just starting to feel his oats…he makes several passes at Bonnie during the course of the show. Yes, he still had his feathered haircut and stupid glasses. Ugh.

No more washed-up guest stars, please.

Of course, this got me to thinking…20 years from now, will people look back at Tom Selleck on Friends and think the same things that I’m thinking now?

Cousin Oliver=jump the shark on Brady Bunch…

“YGTBSM”?

YGBSM = “You gotta be shittin me”

Thanks, Ellis Dee.

Apologies to everyone else who is going WTF? when they see YGTBSM.
