Oh yes. HTF was growing on me until I had to witness some psycho on my floor with the most hideous laugh imaginable cackle his head off at an episode. The blatant commercialism of it doesn’t really help either. Still, they are amusing if you’re in the right mindset.
I still have scars from trying to claw my eyes out while being subjected to Happy Tree Friends. The ones who were showing it to me (normally people of much more refined tastes) insisted that each episode taught important life lessons.
The theme music!! Dear God, the theme music!! It won’t leave me alone!
<assumes fetal position in corner> Deedle deedley deedle dee…deedle deedley deedle dee…
I mean, of course I love adorable cherubic violence, but once the music takes hold, it’s with me for days…
You can buy HTF merchandise at Hot Topic stores all over the US. I especially like the sticker with the bunny that says “You smell like butt”
Gotta love the holiday-themed greeting cards they put out on occasion. Classic example: Smmochie’s Happy Valentine’s Day. Nothing says love like a lot of blood!
But they do! At the end of every episode is an important moral, along the lines of “Stop and smell the roses”. If you had left your eyes alone until the end, you’d have seen it.
The proper reaction on seeing the moral is reading it out loud at the top of your lungs, especially when in a crowded theater doing a Spike & Mike’s sick and twisted animation showing.
