I made a pot of black-eyed peas earlier this week. Soak the dried beans in water overnight. Cook with chopped onion and ham scraps I bought at Kroger. I cook them in a box of chicken broth and water.
This is my go-to stew recipe. Of course you don’t have to stick to the vegetables listed in the ingredient list; I usually throw in a potato in addition to carrots and onions. And whiskey works just as well as brandy. I bet red wine would be good, too, instead of the spirits.
