It's a BORE! A BOOOOOORE!

“Pardon me boy–is this the Transylvania station?”

“Ya. Ya. Track 29.” [Pause] “Shine your shoes, Mister?”

“Um. No, thanks.”

“Give him a sedagive!”

“Come back! I was going to make cappucino.”

Could be worse…
…could be raining.

Actually it’s (1) “Would you like a shine?” (a take off on Glenn Miller’s Chattanooga Choo-choo) and (2) espresso.

I still find it one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen, over 20 years and 20+ viewings later.

“A sedagive???”

De gustibus non est diputandum.

Did you also know that per the script, Dr. Frankenstein was lecturing at my alma mater? And yes, the med students there are that snotty. I sure was.

Looks like it’s been too long since my last viewing…

I like Mel Brooks movies. But not this one.

Yep, me too. And I don’t care for much of Brooks’s other films, except of course for the great The Producers.

Another vote for funny.

And it’s possible that some first-time viewers don’t find it hilarious because the jokes are…well, so good they’ve been fried from overuse.

Trying those nasty looking switches over there has become the normal way we troubleshoot machinery around here. Damn your eyes!

Too late!

I think you’ll find it’s “Say, can I give you a shine?”; the line in the actual song being “Boy, you can give me a shine.”

I can’t freakin’ believe this thread.

No one has come in here to offer the correct pronunciation of “Frankenstein?”

<<no, i ain’t gonna be him, for once>>

I was going to watch my newly purchased DVD of Twelfth Night (not the recent abomination. I found the BBC production with the delectible Felicity Kendal!) tonight, but instead I am going to dig out my copy of YF and ogle Teri Garr’s knockers instead.

“Nice grouping!”

Actually, we’re both wrong. It’s “Oh, can I give you a shine?” I just checked the DVD.

“…where fashion sits.”

“Puhng ahg a Rizzzz!”

“Taffeta, darling!”

I love Young Frankenstein, but I agree that he hasn’t aged well and his movies have not been getting better. All the ones I’ve seen have a few good bits, but I hope the rumors of a Spaceballs 2 aren’t true.

Otto, were you watching a chopped, err ah edited for television version of Young Frankenstein? I know when I’ve watched an edited for television movie that earlier had me in hysterics, it just left me cold.

“Who’s brain was it?”

“A B”

“A B who?”

“A B Normal”

“Even his Schwanstuker?”

“Oh, he going to be popular with the ladies”

“Roll, Roll, Roll in the Hay”

Otto, I can only hope zat your children do not vollow in zeir vather’s vootschtops.

Some people like things. Some people don’t. It’s all good. Otto, next time you hang out at my place, we’ll skip Young Frankenstein and put on some Monty Python, eh?
