If you’d learned to type on a non-electric, non-portable no-kidding typewriter, and had had any interest in doing so with any degree of speed, you too would be whopping the heck out of your keys from home position. Nothing like a 2" key-travel per keystroke at 70+ WPM (with at least a minimum of force at travel’s end to ensure nice dark strikes on each character) to get the old interosseous muscles in shape.
