It's a wide world of odor out there - hand me a clothespin.

Some of you may have seen threads or comments from me in the past about quitting smoking. Well, I have finally made it past three or four days; I’m up to eighteen days without a cigarette now. Just one problem - to tell the truth a number of problems, but this second, mainly this one.

The world stinks.

In the last day or two, I’m starting to get a bit of my sense of smell back. I can smell the exhaust of the other cars on the road, I can smell my co-worker’s BO, I can smell the vegetable scraps in my garbage and the dumpster in the garage. I can smell the dogshit when I’m out for my evening walk, the rotting fish behind the seafood restaurant, and the two-week-old pizza in the fridge at work.

On the bright side, when I take time to smell the flowers, I can smell the flowers.

Wanna know what I’m worried is next? Since smell is returning, taste should be next. I’m deathly afraid I’m going to find I don’t like the taste of anything I like to eat.
