My dog was bitten on his butt by a corgi mix , the dogs did their doggies thing sniff butt etc then when I turned around with my dog the corgi bite my dog on his butt ! I was hitting the dog with my cane and it didn’t let go ,the owners pulled their dog off. My daughter was bitten by a Russian wolf hound right on her face she is OK now and sheepdog attacked a dog in my city . My daughter had a pit bull mix and she was the sweetest dog , I believe it’s the way the dog is raises I was out with my black standard poodle at a park and when we were leaving the park some woman had a white standard poodle that jumped right out at my dog and me for no reason. My dog was my hearing dog and was well trained and people were afraid of him b/c he was black and we almost got attacked by a white dog.

That sort of goes to the point that mean Pits are owned by assholes who encourage them to be mean.
Go Google “Pit Bulls with kittens.”
I got it right the first time; took me 0 seconds. I’ve been around Pit Bulls most of my life, tho (although I’ve never owned one personally).
Another story about another dog called a “pit bull”. No cite for the breed of the dog, not even a picture of the dog. And it’s about a two-bit thief who used the dog as an attack dog. And the dog no doubt thought it was defending it’s half-wit criminal master.
There’s your proof folks. It’s always a “pit bull”. When a dog attacks it has by definition become a “pit bull”.
How many horrific scenes like this must we witness before people finally wise up and ban human children?
Just look at this slideshow of similar attacks all over the country. Wake up people!
Today, it was a husky.
Calling dogs which attack people, and have any plausible resemblance to APBT’s ‘pit bulls’ is one issue. But the ‘pit bull’ hysteria has a lot more facets to it than that.
Our dog for example is probably a Dogo Argentino/APBT mix so she looks just like the Dogo in the photo array, if you don’t see the two next to one another and realize she’s too small to be a pure Dogo. So that means she’s not dangerous?
No. A dog which looks just like her could be human aggressive as individual, although much less likely all else equal as spayed female, and in fact she’s the most pro-human dog imaginable, as an individual. But the bigger point is lack of any scientific evidence that human aggression in dogs varies much with breed compared to how it varies dog to dog, and critically importantly, how it varies depending on how the dog is managed, IOW owner factors. Which go far beyond ‘teaching it to be mean’. Some people like to have unfixed male dogs, even good dog owners w/ good dogs. But 80-90% of fatal dog attacks on people involve unfixed males (alone or as leaders in multi-dog attacks). That’s a real factor. There are others. No peer reviewed science has ever found breed to be one of them, that’s just something many people think they ‘know’. And general appearance translated into pseudo-breed, as in ‘pit bull’ is definitely not.
Fact is, every dog can bite. They have teeth, don’t they? The amazing thing is that the bite so rarely. God knows, we give them provocation enough!

[{Goochland County Sheriff James L.] Agnew … suspected that [the dogs] had been bred to fight.](Virginia woman killed by her pit bulls in ‘grisly mauling’ – New York Daily News)
Given that my utterly un-pit bull-like Puppers has been repeatedly called a pit bull or pit cross, I’ll call bullshit until we see some pictures.
Wait a minute. The report says it was a pit bull. This is fairly well respected newspaper. Now we can’t cite newspaper reports?
Yeah right. Here’s a journalist’s guide to Pitbull identification for your perusal.
The Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics Behind Dog Bites is a good read about how reliable press reports of “pitbull attacks” are.
No idea whether these dogs were pitbulls or not, but newspaper reports saying that they were adds absolutely zero credibility to the claim.
We should listen to the woman’s best friend (quoted in another story defending the dogs):
“The wounds on her hands, face and throat were probably from them protecting her,” Norris said."

Is she saying that she believes that someone attacked the woman and any wounds she suffered that can be linked to the dogs are the result of the dogs accidentally biting their owner while trying to protect her by biting her attacker? I’m assuming that an autopsy will be performed and they will be able to establish whether she suffered any injuries that weren’t inflicted by the dogs.
Something doesn’t add up. The dogs are described as weighing between 100 and 120 pounds. The group of dog breeds lumped under the catchall term of “pit bull” weigh no more than 50 or 60 pounds. They are not huge dogs.
The dog at the bottom of the article linked in post #211 looks like a Lab mix to me.
American Bullies can definitely reach that size. They’re a very new breed, just recognized within the last fifteen, that came from crossing pitties and staffies, plus some other “bully breeds”, mostly from the bulldog family, though the larger ones have some Cane Corso or mastiff in the bloodlines. They can definitely top 100 pounds, more if their weight isn’t kept in check. Am. Bullies are also almost exactly what the average American sees when they think pit bull. They’re mean looking dogs packing a lotta muscle - they can be very intimidating the first time you see one. Because of their size and heft, breeders have actually spent a LOT of time and energy breeding dog and human aggression out of the line - any animal with that size and strength could be dangerous, and is best if bred and trained to be very docile and gentle. For as scary as they can appear, they’re wonderful and peaceful indoors, though definitely need a good amount of exercise and room to run outside. Every one I’ve worked with has been fantastic with other dogs, even if they unintentionally cause problems - they are canine bowling balls. Not a dog I would suggest to a family with small children, but only because they’re so damn big.
Yup, there’s nothing pibble in that photo except the brindle.
But it’s always a pit bull. I learned that on the internet!
