Dreamhost shows that domain registered on the 12th of April; I think we’re on to something. Nice goin’ sadrobot!
WTF? Why would she say T? Unless it was my mistake. Glad you dropped by…
Well. We have 3 days to figure out where that is. Dopefest!

One thing that jumps out at me is how the streets aren’t aligned with the edges of the image. It’s always possible that the puzzle creator rotated the image, but assuming they didn’t, what city has their streets offset from the compass by that angle? Manhattan, maybe?

Looks like a lot of white and yellow taxis as well.
Manhattan looks promising. Google maps shows the lighting, shadows, and street layout to be very close.
There were 2 envelopes in Manhattan, and all other cities only had one. I was just looking at the sat views of Manhattan this morning, which is why I guessed it.

Found it on Google maps:
Wow. How did you do that so fast?
No kidding, I’d like to know too. I plugged everything into PhotoShop and was using the original as a transparency to fit into place like a jigsaw puzzle piece. Figured it’d take me a couple of hours at least.
Nice job sadrobot
Nothing really stands out to me from google street view. Anyone in the area wanna go knocking on doors? heh.
I think it’s the Cibar Lounge 56 Irving Pl
I was trying to “walk” the route in between the 2 envelope locations, but I was looking closer to the center of the route. I once created a quest in a MMOG (There.com), where the penultimate clue said “Find the last clue exactly halfway between where you found clues #4 and #7”.

So can we get a volunteer to be there on the 20th at 8pm? I’m in Florida, so it’d be a LONG drive for me.
I’m in the DC area. I have relatives in CT, and my work schedule is flexible, but I’m not sure if the trip is in my budget right now. sigh.
Given the venue, it looks like they might be prepared to throw a little bash for the successful questers. Let’s not spread the news too far. If word gets out, it might turn into a flash mob.

Understood. I meant someone following the thread. I’ve got a couple of friends in NYC, but they’re not Dopers, so I wouldn’t ask them.
Damn that was fun just to read! Even knowing the answers I’m amazed at the ingenuity of the Stan/Ants/3outof4/Ian/Gina/Nina/… and of the dopers who solved it.
My own (useless) contribution:
http://www.itsanenigma.com/system/app/pages/recentChanges
http://www.simianagent.com/system/app/pages/recentChanges (doesn’t have dates?)
http://www.demonetise.com/system/app/pages/recentChanges
This has been planned and set up for quite a while.
Well played 3outof4! Can’t wait for the next one!
And what happened to Here Come Dots? He should be all over this!
PS. Is it too early to ask for an explanation of the formula->password cypher?
Why do you suppose that picture is hosted on foible.net rather than www.demonetise.com?
I also note that foible.net is registered by one Alex Schoenbaum from Austin, TX, who also has a Twitter account under the name “foible,” who also seems to have some Twitter correspondance with HereComeDots.
I think they’re reading this thread. There’s alt-text on that pic that wasn’t there before.
When I first looked at the site, the pic was here:
But now it’s on foible.net, and there’s alt-text.

Woah, you look the other way for a couple of hours… Brilliant work, guys, and props to sadrobot for piecing together the last part! I can’t wait to hear back from whoever is able to make the appointment…
