You’d think they’d try to maximize the efficiency for marketing reasons. But no, they make an SUV, go figure.
Anybody eles flinch when they saw the thread title?
As for the OP…
Well, heck. The American public has pretty clearly indicated that they like large vehicles more than small ones. If that’s the case why not start the fuel cell revolution (and I devoutly hope we have one) with a car that’s A) likely to be popular and B) replaces vehicles currently exempt from a lot of fuel-efficiency standards?
Make sense to me.
I just figured(and considered buying) the prius because of it’s heavily advertised 70 miles to a gallon. That efficiency would be highly needed in Davis where gas is 2 bucks/gallon.
I guess you’re right. But Suv’s still bug me. Well, not particularly SUV’s but people who can’t drive their SUV’s.
Don’t start.
We might want to get a commuter car at some point. The Prius is a hybrid, right? How did it work.
And what do you think of the (with luck) fuel cell revolution? Will it happen?
Couldn’t afford it. Instead I own a 91/92 accord(built from a crashed 91 and a crashed 92) with a going-bad transmission.
It was -extremely- cheap, and it’s somewhat reliable. It’ll last me through college.
I certainly hope the fuel cell revolution occurs. UCD has been spearheading these cars for years, but i’d only want one if it can match the power of today’s cars. I like to drive fast.
Well, what would you find acceptable?
Would a trade off in acceleration for increased fuel-efficiency do it for you? Or just cheaper fuel?
I dunno, I’d say it looks more like a 4 door wagon than a Expedition to me.
What am I missing here?
Why an eeevil SUV?? fercrissakes…
Waaaah do you ask?
 You ought to live over here (UK) - I reckon my local garage would work out at over 5 dollars a gallon (74 pence per litre).
I know i’m being unrealistic, but I can dream can’t I? =)
Looks pretty big to me.
How big is the UK? Davis is a tiny ass cow town I have to drive 25 miles(and back) to go anywhere
