Well some of you nitwits have probably already been biking in the cold, cold weather! Not me, though, I’m a wimp, and have decided to start this weekend.
I already took my bike down to Wheel World, where I bought it, and got it’s very first annual check-up. He says it looks great, the back tire has developed a bit of a wobble but he fixed that, and I’m all ready to go. And I just can’t wait to get back on it.
It’s supposed to be VERY cold tomorrow but I don’t care…even if I only go out for 15 minutes and just around the development, I’ll be out there! It’s about time.
I actually love my bike better than my car, as the car was essentially a hand-me-down and in so-so condition, but the bike was picked out by me, and actually in better condition. :o
Well, I’m with you in spirit, anyway. The last month or so I’ve been getting in some decent weekend rides, even though two weekends ago the weather was in the 40’s and extremely windy (25-35 mph winds) around here. Last weekend I attended my first rally of the year, riding 40 miles in 39 degree weather. Plus light rain. Talk about miserable riding weather!!! That’s about as nasty as it gets and I’m still willing to ride. If the rain had picked up, or if it had dipped down around freezing, no f***ing way.
This weekend looks to be considerably better. Hope to get in 50 or so miles over Saturday and Sunday. Woo hoo!!!
It’s really pretty much always biking season around here. There was probably about a month where it was too wet or cold, but I still saw people out riding on those days. I’m a wimp when it comes to the ‘cold’ (yes, I am an ever bigger wimp for complaining about Northern California winters) too. I finally did get on my bike for the first time last weekend, for a one mile trip downtown to watch the Tour of California. It felt good to be back on it, even briefly, and I’ve really got the itch to start riding into work and taking longer rides on the weekends again. I think I might go for a ride on Sunday, but I’m probably still a couple of weeks away from starting my rides to work again.
