I saw this coming years ago…I just wonder why it took so long.
I believe that we should sue stupid people.

Crap, that should be http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/04/18/coors.suit.ap/index.html
How much money ya got, Link-Boy?
For those on a slow connection, or who just don’t feel like clicking on the link, the Headline reads: Mom sues Coors over son’s death in accident
Yeah, it was really just a matter of time. Seems some people live by the motto: “When bad things happen, for Chrissake, find someone else to blame!”
I don’t think stupidity has as much to do with it as the fact that people need to blame someone – anyone – for their misfortunes. Most ads for whatever product depict young, attractive people, but I’ve never seen a beer ad by Coors or anyone else that encourages underage drinking, or drinking and driving. I’m sorry for the loss of the woman’s son, but I think the lawsuit is frivolous and the lawyer is an ambulance chaser.
Next people with diabetes will be suing C&H for encouraging people to use sugar, people who run and fall on a sidewalk will sue Portland Cement for making concrete so hard and people who sit on a thumbtack will sue Staples for not warning them about thumbtacks on chairs.
Disgusting!
She’s also suing her son’s girlfriend, the owner of the car, and her son’s girlfriend’s mother, who bought the car.
Because everyone except for her son is to blame.
All I can think is “What a bitch!”
I understand she misses her son, but how the HELL is it the gf’s mother’s fault? At ALL? Or the gf?
Some peoples’ mothers. Sigh.
Why didn’t she just throw in the car manufacturer as well. Obviously the designers aren’t doing enough to prevent this type of stuff.
I’m surprised her lawyer isn’t suggesting the mother also sues herself, for having raised a son who would drink and drive without a licence, AND be foolish enough to choose a girlfriend who would lend him her car. Sheshould also sue herself for choosing the kind of lawyer who is so willing to profit from the misery of others.
I can understand the rage that a parent would feel from the death of their child, but this woman needs serious help.
She’s missing so many wonderful opportunities for lawsuits! The person who hosted the party, the person who bought the beer, everyone at the party who didn’t prevent her son from drinking or driving, the clerk that sold the beer, the manager on duty when the clerk sold the beer, the owner of the store that sold the beer, the parent company of the store that sold the beer, yeast, for recklessly fermenting and allowing the creation of alcohol…
First they start sueing death metal bands for promoting suicide - now its boring middle-of-the-road irish band whos music makes people fall asleep at the wheel.
I think she should sue the road engineers for creating roads that people can kill themselves on!
… the people who made the light pole, the people who installed the light pole, the town planner for specifying that location for a light pole…
At a stretch, I could see possible room for bringing the girlfriend into it (but that’s a mighty big stretch - perhaps if she had convinced him that he absolutely needed to be somewhere else right away, and then refused to drive, and then handed him the keys and sat him in the car…) but the girlfriend’s mother? What did she do? I’m sure when she bought the car, she didn’t intend it to be used by a drunken teenage boy, and I’m certain that she would in fact have attempted to ban said drunken teenage boy from driving if the possiblity ever occurred to her.
I’m sorry for the mother who lost her son, but there’s no excuse for the frivilous and malicious lawsuits she’s bringing against people who had the misfortune to somehow be connected to her son when he recklessly and foolishly lost his life.
You guys are being extremely unreasonable.
A truly caring brewer would ship its beer with child-proof caps. You’re 21, they open; you’re 19, a siren sounds and your parents are notified.
Frankly, America’s youth deserves no less.
90 miles an hour? I’ve barely ever driven that fast sober in my OWN car WITH a license…
Someone should sue her lawyer for filing such a frivolous lawsuit. I feel I have suffered emotional and psychological damages from hearing of such nonsense. I want $2 Million.
You saw this coming? I thought it came already…
In 11th grade we had to watch a video about a couple families and friends who lost people to drunk driving and the parents never really expressed any personal responsibility, which irked me. They also were pushing for legislation to get a warning label put on alcoholic beverages, IIRC…
How far does a company have to go to prevent people from breaking the law? I mean holding gun companies responsible for accidents is one thing, but Coors isn’t designed to be deadly.

Sue everybody!

Other parties to be added to the lawsuit:
Thomas Edison and Ben Franklin, inventors of electricity. If it wasn’t for the two of them working in cahoots with each other, there would be no such thing as “light”, therefore no lightposts, therefore no accidental deaths.
The Sumerians, for developing beer brewing.
