It's (no longer) the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

This makes no sense at all.
If it was on broadcast TV (whatever that is anymore…), then it would be unavailable the second the broadcast ended, until (maybe) the next year. How is that better?

I have an Android phone. As a family, we don’t gather around to watch things on a computer screen. I’m not sure if one of my smart devices has apple+ or whatever on it. Is there an Android app I can cast from? Or am I limited to whatever apps are on the smart TV or blue ray player?

I mean, every year they air it on broadcast TV, it has to be negotiated and paid for. It’s not like there’s a magic Charlie Brown broadcasting fairy that Apple killed. This year, Apple paid whoever owns it to show it. Next year it might be different.

There is an Apple TV app for Android.

CBS didn’t use it as a loss leader for a an over priced cable subscription service that nobody asked for and nobody with an ounce of respect will pay for.

(already posted in GD):

First thought - BOO!

BUT - I just bought a replacement iPhone for my wife, and it came with a free year of Apple+ - so yay for me!

Yeah, they used it to sell tooth-rot to kids.

Seriously. We’re so inured to advertisements that people treat them as costless.

I’d much rather pay a few bucks to have my kids watch the cartoons and not advertisements. Probably cheaper in the long run too, since I won’t have to try to talk them out of every damn toy and junk food they see.

I subscribe to Apple TV and it’s great.

Do they not put it in the Google app store, or is it called something weird? Because there’s nothing called Apple TV in there.

ETA: Never mind. I’ll Google it. I don’t need to hijack this discussion.

I was mistaken. It should work in the web browser on Android devices.

I got a rock.

I signed up for Apple TV in order to watch the third “Long Way…” installment of Ewan McGregor and his pal Charley Boorman’s motorcycle adventures. This time they’re riding from Tierra del Fuego to LA on prototype electric Harley Davidsons. I signed up for a free week but I should’ve waited since they haven’t posted all the episodes yet. It’s worth $4.99 to see the whole season but I won’t be renewing my subscription once it’s over.

I just hope they don’t hijack Rudolph.

I’ve never been much of a fan.

If this were the Pit, I’d say, “Fuck Apple”.

Gwyneth’s daughter is only 16! What are you, a Democrat?

Modhat on: Well @mikecurtis that’s a warning and additionally, you’re to stay out of this thread for now on.

Exactly so. Though I believe they released the Apple TV app for the newest Rokus and Amazon Fire TVs. And very small amount of smart TVs. You won’t find it on Google TVs or Android (Chromecast).

Which sucks for those of us who don’t have smart TVs and no interest (currently) in acquiring one. The TV I have is just fine, even if it is 10 years old. Frankly, after reading that Smart TVs have significant security issues, I have no interest in acquiring one ever unless and until the manufacturers can figure out a way to close those holes.

Yeah, most families have all the Christmas shows and movies on DVD by now.

Speak for yourself.
