Yep. Noticed my “p” key was sticking, so I thought I’d do what I’ve always done, pop it off and clean out whatever gunk/food/cat hair was causing it to stick. Except this keyboard is nothing like any of my previous keyboards, and now I can’t get it back on.

I did the same thing, except it was my 3 key. Luckily that was on the laptop keyboard and I usually use my wireless keyboard (because it’s bigger), but it still sucks that it’s kinda off…

Me, I did it with the “M” key on my old Powerbook. Told the wife, “Darn it. Now we have no choice but to buy a Macbook.” [Muhahahahaha.]

You think you’re an idiot? I don’t remember what thread it was, but there was once a heated, multi-page debate going on and my keyboard suddenly started acting wonky. Multiple letters, missing letters, . that would type with / (that one still happens a lot - I have to be very careful about my tags or I end up [./quote]ing things.)

I wrote a 1500 word post using cut and paste - sometimes of words, sometimes of individual letters. Only to have the thread closed literally moments after I posted. :smack: (I’m just grateful it was moments after!)

Nah, that would be too easy. My guess is that she’s holding down ALT and typing 117 on the numeric keypad.

Of course, if she was really cool, she’d do all her typing with those ALT-number combos.

I’m wondering if I can’t fix it if I’d look like an idiot taking it to a repair place. This is a laptop too so I can’t just go out an buy a new keyboard. Obviously it still works it just looks ugly.

I have given up on trying to fix it for the time being, because I am about to break off a little bit of plastic if I keep screwing with it.

Repair places have seen pretty much everything possible in terms of what can be done to a laptop keyboard, be it soup, coffee, toddlers or a malicious soon to be ex-friend.

Good news is that laptop makers have for the most part, expected the keyboards to get wrecked and they’re usually fairly simple to swap. (That’s assuming you’re reasonably skilled with a screwdriver and can take things apart without having “extra” parts left over.)
