It's official

Yes, it is indeed official. I’ve become an unemployed bum (thereby surprising the hell out of everyone whose met me, and I’m sure assumed I already was an unemployed bum)My company decided that it’d be easier to just stop paying one of it’s mechanical engineers instead of actually finding enough work for us all to do. As I held the semipermanent position of Low Man on the Totem Pole, this, of course, was me.

Tell you what, though, I’m enjoying this, at least for today. I’ve got enough money to not worry for a couple months, so I think I’m just going to enjoy my unscheduled vacation for the time being. I’ve got about 70 books I haven’t yet read moldering in my apartment, so I won’t lack for things to do…

Anyway, just wanted to say :stuck_out_tongue: to all you people stuck at desks today

Yeah! Unemployed Dopers, unite! You have nothing to lose but… well, your jobs, I guess.

Enjoy the time. Sounds like you’ve got your finances set enough that you won’t be totally stressed out, which is a Good Thing. I was unemployed for 2 months when I first moved to CA, and now that I’m back here in RI, it’s been 2 months since I was last employed. Lined up a part-time job at a community college though, so that’s cool. It’ll go full time eventually.

Happy hunting!

Geez, Dopers jobs are dropping like flies in a jarbaby porn thread!

Enjoy your break, Dyno, but I hope you find something soon, too.

Have a nice vacation, baby…and when you decide to return to the workforce? I have all the faith in the world in you. You are going to find a better, more satisfying job. And for loads more money, too!

Scotti has SPOKEN!

Enjoy your time off, Dyno, ya loser.

Hope you end up finding a job you actually like in a location you actually like.

Congratulations. You remind me of an old punk song about a guy who gets fired, and now declares “Every day’s a holiday!”

Oh DynoSaur, hang in there. You’ll find a better job soon. Have fun reading all those books in the meantime.

Now you can read all the books piled up…I envy you, hehehehe.
Seriously though, if you need to talk, you know where to find me.

This just means more time for you to admire me. Now how can you feel bad about that? What do you mean you don’t admire me? Well start dayumit!

You’ve inspired me. I think I’ll try to get myself fired today.

Thanks for the kind words and commiseration. And the not-so-kind words, too

I fear I’m in danger of remembering that I hate work and not going to want to go back. Not that I have a choice, of course.
