That’s so cool that she got to come back for a thank-you. I’ve never seen that happen. I think the song won in part as a way of rewarding the movie as a whole.
Indeed! I was thinking that was rather rude to cut her off like that. She is quite adorable.
Irrelevant comment: I can’t stand Hilary Swank.
Nice music under the Tribute.
It’s a shame that The Diving Bell and the Butterfly got shut out. I gonna go ahead and declare Schnabel isn’t going to get Best Director. It was an amazing movie.
Am I a bad person for not knowing who most of these people are and for still being mad at Valenti even now that he’s dead?
All right they mentioned Dabbs Greer and Lois Maxwell.
Cool - in the Memorial montage they showed the stuntman from the motorcycle jump in the Great Escape.
No, but why are you mad at Valenti?
Hey, it’s “Bring Out Your Dead!”
We didn’t lose a lot of actual actors this year, did we?
At least they’ve muted the applause somewhat from the live audience. They should cut it out altogether–it becomes the world’s least tasteful popularity meter.
Did Altman get a mention (I had to leave the room).
I loathe Jack Valenti–he’s done a ton of damage to creativity (he and Sonny Bono and others).
Every guy on the Dope is thinking, “Oh, yeah, I’d do her!” Even the gay ones.
Yeah, the images and names go by so fast during the Tribute – but some stand out. Would that any of us could merit a two-second image during a national telecast!
I didn’t realize Miss Moneypenny died.
That has got to be the most famous Motorcycle scene in movie history. Doesn’t it?
Mostly the DMCA. Though the stupid anonymous way the MPAA rating system is set up is a reasonably close second.
Worst. Dead roll. Ever.
The two biggest names were Heath Ledger and Ingmar Bergman (the latter of which is a truly giant loss). Didn’t anybody famous die last year?
I’m surprised they didn’t openly boo Jack Valenti. He wasn’t exactly beloved in that town.
Nope. I’m pissed that people clapped for him and not some of the others.
I think the tribute is more for the people in the room than the people at home. I think if they’re going to do it it’s good that they don’t just limit it to household names.
Did they even mention Suzanne Pleshette?
He was my “I didn’t know he was dead” guy this year in watching the annual montage.
Yes. She got one of the biggest hands.
Yes they did show her. She got one of the loudest rounds of applause.
