It's the last week for panic shopping in the MMP!

It is 7 feels like minus 14 degrees here.

I’m so glad I have a yard.
Poor Lucy dad, had to take her to the park. He has no yard and Lucy won’t potty on a leash.
Lucy is enjoying the cold and is happily rolling on the ground, while dad stands there freezing.

I’m glad I have nowhere to go.

Well, the walk to the pharmacy is out. I walked to the mailbox, and it’s water on ice out there, and most of the way to the store is down a sidewalk nobody tends. I’ll just give my eye a good talking-to and hope that’s as good as antibiotics.

JtC, it’ll be a gradual change. In some lights, I do think I’m seeing a tad better, but in others, not so much. If it DOES improve my vision, the big question is whether or not the change will last, as it hasn’t before. All a crapshoot.

And I have to tell you, I share your GG stories with my sisters and daughter, and they laugh hysterically. One sister said, “That cat was worth every penny just for entertainment value!” Of course, not her pennies, but still…he’s spreading mirth.

Sari, so Lucy dad has to take her to the park every time she needs to potty? I hope he lives close by! Also, I hope poor Cerby’s paw starts improving.

flyboy, glad you got the Jeepsicle running.

   My favorite part is the sign that says “Bethle-ha-ha-ham.”

It’s warmed up to 37, spitting a bit but the driveway is now walkable. Real rain should be back tomorrow and persist all week.

I think that falls under the heading of palmetto bugs.

It got down to single digits overnight but has come back up to a blazing hot 17f. Time to break out the shorts and sandals.
Things are supposed to thaw out tomorrow though and stay above freezing for at least a week.

Wifey brought the frozen hummer feeder in last night to thaw out. I just took it back out and put a suet in the suet holder. We also filled the seed feeders. There is a riot of birds on our deck now, including at least 2 hummers. !

That’s funny about Lucy pottying in the park. Vinnie used to like to save his poop until we took him to the park on his walks. Gibbs, on the other hand, didn’t want to potty in the park and would wait til we got home to poop in the front yard. After Vinnie died Gibbs started demanding that he be taken to the park every day, where he would poop. Dogs be weird.
I miss my daily walks to the park. :sob:

Thanks for the hugs.

Later.

wet one, it’s been a jammy day here too, except when I took a shower after making gingerbread.

nellie, does your pharmacy deliver? Mine did when I couldn’t go there because I had the flu.

After the houseirk was done, I messed around the studio and played with a spiral pop up card design. It didn’t come out too badly, but I know a few things to make it better next time. Right now, there’s a little reddish dog in my arms that I’ll have to move to go to the bathroom.

I know the feeling. I have an orange cat camped in my lap who gets annoyed with me for even shifting position.

Lucy lives about 2-3 blocks from the park.
She goes to the park three times a day, every day.
Unless it is really icy, then she is put out on the deck.

Ripple and Echo both save theirs for the park and they usually go back into the fir trees.
Cerby could never hold it that long. He is the poopiest dog too.

Nellie I hope your eyes improve.

He does with me too

I have one of those too! And I paid extra for her (Siamese).

I must be an evil cat mommy. When I need to get up for whatever reason, Taz goes on the floor.

The french toast casserole is built and waiting in the fridge to be baked tomorrow. The hashbrown casserole will be made in the morning, as will the fritatta. I wrapped the punkin pies and put them in the garage to stay cool.

The rest of tonight is for chillage.

Ja Rasta Cat does not sit on laps :frowning:

Allie doesn’t either. She mostly likes being petted and will sometimes ask for hugs when I hit the snooze button on the alarm clock, but is rather opposed to laps.

[Festivus Grievance] GOT A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH YOU PEOPLE, AND YOU’RE GONNA HEAR ALL ABOUT IT!
Well, I had a power outage from 030-11:15 at home, 2 power flickers at work which took everything down, and I had no Interwebs for 8 hours. And the temp is down to 22, and it’ll be 10 when I go to work[/Festivus Grievance]

{{{{boofae and critters}}}

I have a five toed sloth curled up on the clean laundry in the dryer.

Howdy all. It was 78F today and it’s now 52F with a feels like of 47F. It’s going to 32F. I bought Buddyboy a new coat. He will need it tomorrow. And until Wednesday when we’ll be back to 73/61F.

Nellie here’s hoping for much improvement in due time.
FCM Hoping for a relaxing and happy time tomorrow for the brunch.
Red Stay warm. And stay home if you can.
Flyboy hoping when everything thaws there is minimal damage.
MetalMouse hoping you arrived safely.

Everyone please be safe.

Jeebus on a cracker, that is some serious blizzard. I got home. Took a co-worker to push, but we made it out.

Car is in the street - can’t make it up my driveway, I’m more than a little worried that someone will rear end me - but … I am in my own home, safe, warm, power & heat are still on, and I have booze, food, and weed.

Honestly? I’ve been worse.
But for now, Monkey and I hunker down. Cuz western Mitten is BANANAS out there.

Not unlike eastern Nebraska. I’ve got kittens, a deliciously daunting stack of library books and more than enough coffee and food, plus some snazz ass Sazerac rum if a hot toddy is called for.

I’m good, especially if the electricity and therefore the wi-fi holds out so I can talk with my Mumper buds.

Awwww! That is so sweet of you to say  GG really is an entertaining lil guy. I have put blankets and such on him when he gets in the way when I’m folding laundry so he does know what it feels like. Today, he got between the bed spread and comforter in the back room and took almost 10 minutes to swim his way across the bed and into the wall.

VBC heard the thumping and jumped onto the bed to see what was going on just to be attacked. Kinda. It was more like a blanket covered whale breaching and then falling back into the sea. VBC just walked over to the nightstand and sat there looking at the thrashing lump with a “you idiot” look on her face.

He did get finally get out on his own but the bed was a wreck!

I’m going to be positive about your eye surgery, I am hereby declaring that not only will your vision improve, it will stay improved this time! (Can you maybe help out by not pushing the reset button again?)

:people_hugging:

NOOOO!!! How did you ever survive?

I’d like to thank you for doing your part to keep our packages moving through the system. You might be invisible to the consumer but without folks like you we wouldn’t get our packages.

I gave our UPS driver his Christmas tip and a big box of bakery cookies to take back to the loading station and share, but I’m pretty sure the treats I give delivery folks never make it back to the “office”, so please do know that there are people around who do appreciate you folks!

Wow! I’ve been hearing that it is nutz back there, I’m glad you made it home safely and I hope your car is intact in the morning. I hope you can find it in the morning, considering all the snow that will be falling tonight. You did bring your ice scraper inside with you, right?

I’ve been seeing different birds than normal for a while and today saw a bunch of Robins (who don’t hang around here) and some sparrow sized blue birds showed up today. Someone on Nextdoor pointed out that the White Crowns (migrating sparrows who nest up north in the frozen tundra and then winter down here) haven’t shown up. They were late leaving too, now that I think about it.

I’m thinking the weather is broken.

We had take out burgers from the diner tonight and they were yum. I didn’t go because it was pajama day but hubs reports that all of the repairs have been completed and that it looks almost the same as before the fire but of course some of the hand painted artwork on the walls is gone forever.

I’m guessing that the delay in reopening the dining room is because they need some sort of government inspection/paperwork that won’t be completed until next year. I can say this with complete confidence because I used to be one of those government drones and know how things work and when they don’t work.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 15 degrees ferret height, with a windchill of 3.

Y’all stay safe, warm, and catted.

Speaking of which, a certain feline earned an epic Festivus Grievance tonight by knocking over a full beer, and soaking me. :rage:

Apparently, my driver’s license is misinformed about my age. It claims I’m 53, but I’m keeping a close eye on NORAD’s Santa tracker.

Morning, mumpers! It’s 7c/44f with a predicted high of 8c/46f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a good day to see if you are still able to suck your own toes. Or someone else’s. I won’t fucking judge”. Err…no, thank you! Despite saying it’s mostly cloudy, I can see a bit of sunlight and also some mist out there so not a bad day at all.

I hope all of you affected by the snow and cold temps are managing to stay heated and lit! We get news reports about your weather and it does not look at all good. 'im indoors said last night he was very glad we hadn’t done our usual thing of booking a christmas trip to the US otherwise we’d be stuck in it too. And believe me, the Brits really can’t handle snow at all

doggio Alex Catt will be insisting that it’s a sign of affection and that you just didn’t smell right without a coating of beer.

JtC I am so glad that the diner has been repaired and will be able to open again. Shame about the artwork, but good to hear that the business has survived and you’ll be able to eat out there again next year.

shoe fingers and paws crossed for your car, at least you and Monkey are safe and warm while the weather does its thing out there.

BBBoo kittens, books, food and your choice of beverage sounds like an ideal way to spend a few days! I don’t have the excuse of bad weather, but I am hoping to spend a few days in exactly the same way.

metalmouse hope you had an uneventful journey and arrived safely - don’t forget to come in and say hello if you can, just so we don’t worry about you!

Moooom I hope the in-laws aren’t too much trouble while they are with you, at least you’ll have FCD, daughter and SIL to help out with everyone.

We went out last night to see some bands, had a fantastic time and caught up with friends as well. The organisers said they were doing a collection for a local foodbank and it was heartening to see the amount of stuff that people had donated. The gig had only sold enough tickets for the smaller room (250 capacity) but the venue manager had bumped it into the bigger part of the arena which worked much better. Given the numbers, he only opened one of the bars but it was enough, and it also gave us a bigger area to hang around and chat to people.

I have pretty much nothing planned for today apart from running the vacuum cleaner around the place to pick up all the fur and bits of litter that the cats have tracked around the house. I also need to plan timings for cooking dinner tomorrow so I get everything done at the right time. Other than that, I have nothing much to do apart from the xmas eve traditional viewing of The Nightmare Before Christmas. That will be me on the sofa this afternoon with a cuppa, a mince pie, and a lap full of Shadow.
