It's the last week for panic shopping in the MMP!

The boel is from the Getty Museum shop, which has some very attractive items.

Merry Christmas (again) y’all!

My niece called this morning canceling the gathering at her house. Seems like her sweetie and 22 year old son who lives with them tested positive for the plague. :frowning: I didn’t plan on going up until after lunch, so I rescheduled lunch to Sunday dinner (ham, carrots, sauteed green beans, scalloped potatoes and gingerbread for anyone who’s keeping track). Miss Ann’s son is at her house today and took over dog walking duty, so it’s been Nelson and me with phone calls with Dad and Sis.

Sorry it was cancelled. I hope everyone will be well.

In an act of chutzpah, after reading Barack Obama’s list of favorite books read in 2022, I’ve sent him a copy of my memoir. The worst thing that can happen is that it winds up in a library or as a donation, right?

Closed for Baby-Jeebus-Day, and always closed Mondays.

Strapped on the boots with crampons, the magickal parka Other Shoe gave me a long time ago (it’s like wearing a very warm hug) plus one of my mother’s scarves & one of her hats (that woman KNITS people!), mittens, two pairs of socks, and … wandered around for a while. I love how muffled everything is when it’s snowing - there’s nothing but the leather-squeak of snow under my soles.

Now that I’m on this weird late-night schedule, I’ll probably wander again. I went for lots of walks, once, and it always made me feel better. (It’s not like I can get lost; my 'hood is built on a grid.)

Howdy Y’all! I got everyone Lessoned and Caroled and then came back to da cave which was filled with the nummy aroma of roastin’ beast tenderloin. I achieved nappage and then got myself all readied to receive company and be festive. We laughed, We ate. We drank. We ate some more. We laughed some more. We drank some more. A good time was had by all and then everyone went home just before six. Now the dishwasher is doin’ it’s thang and the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Yes, we will have trash pickup tomorrow accordin’ to the website for the county. Now we are in major chill mode. I think by around eight o’ clock we will be ready to crash.

Jack you got good stuff. I really liked the jammy pants. That’s what I call 'em anyways. Doggie is a handsome fella! Give him skritches from me.

Lily you got and gave some really nice stuff! I, too, especially liked the bowl.

Nellie my brain does not work well, as everyone knows. Are you takin’ the choochoo today or tomorrow?

red sorry the gatherin’ was cancelled, and hope all the sick ones are better soonest. I am sure Nelson has loved havin’ his mommy all to himself.

JtC I am sure LWT’s kids loved the swingset. I am sure the birdies enjoyed their extra treats. Speakin’ of, how many more treats have the kitties conned you out of today? One of these days I shall have to checkout Nextdoor to see if there’s a local one. Just out of curiosity, of course. Except for my driveway neighbor I really don’t know about or have much desire to know about my neighbors.

shoe glad you are enjoyin’ the snow. You can have it all. Really. I’m all generous when it comes to sharin’ snow. I don’t need any at all.

We had a decent stop at the hospital to see BIL - he’s still really confused and his short term memory is shot. But he was in decent spirits, so there’s that.

Then on to my bro’s place where waaaaay too much eating went on. Kids got lots of goodies, we did the silly white elephant game - I got a TP stick - you know that kind used by people who can’t wipe the old-fashiioned way! FCD got an old lamp.

Unfortunately, MIL called in a panic and we had to leave right away. FIL was waaaaaay out there today. He tried to hit her with his walker, he was calling her all kinds of nasty names, and when we finally got there, he didn’t know who we were. I’ve got MIL here with me for the night and FCD is staying with his dad. I think his mom is finally realizing that she can’t do this herself.

I fed her - she hadn’t eaten all day - and she’s now in the shower. I’ve got her bed warming up and I expect she’ll crash soon. I suppose tomorrow, there will be some serious conversations about facilities. This can’t go on.

On the up side, those of you who are friends with my sister on FB can see photos of the day. Not sure if my friends can see them or not, since I’m tagged. And I know my sweater clashes with my turtleneck. Apologies to the fashion-conscious!

swampy, I’m leaving tomorrow. (I hope.) Glad you had such a nice–and nummy-- Christmas!

Susan, what lovely gifts! That gorgeous puzzle will keep your lovely wife occupied for a long time, I bet. Will you work on it together? And the light is so cool! I’m sure President Obama will find your book engrossing. I hope you get a nice thank you note from him.

@Jack_Batty, looks like you got some nifty gifts. Whoever sent you the Sunday NYT crossword book must recognize your genius. Bob is so adorable! I’m sad he didn’t get anything, but he did seem to appreciate the head smooches.

red, sorry the gathering got canceled.

I gave my brother-in-law a fridge magnet (plus a book) that’s probably appropriate for many people today:" Alcohol, the glue holding this shitshow together."

Catch you all on the next MMP!

Evening all. Drive was easy, not a lot of traffic and am sitting in a room with 5 other adults and 5 dog’s watching Die Hard and now opening presents, so need to end this. Take care all and catch you on the next MMP.

Sounds like you’re short a dog there.

Howdy all. I saw the pics FCM and you looked festive. That baby boy is just adorable. He looked so cute is his Buffalo check shirt.

We (me, Sonnyboy and Sherry) had a good Christmas. We had a feast of ham, creamed corn, mashed taters, glazed carrots and roasted radishes. The radishes weren’t that good but I ate some anyway. We grew them. Sherry also made a chocolate cake. That girl can cook and bake.

I got a garden shed, robe, Brita pitcher, some hanging baskets for my air plants and a few other little things. I got them fishing kayaks and accessories; dry bags, anchors, whistles and air horn. I also got Sherry some diamond earrings which she loves. They are gorgeous but are manmade diamonds.

It’s still cold. I broke down and put on the heat. I don’t think it got out of the 40’s today. There were even a few snow flakes in the county.

Sonnyboy gave me some cash so I have asked a couple that do odd jobs to come by and help me weed my beds and plant more caladiums. It will be money well spent.

I have read all. Glad everyone had a safe holiday.

susan I love what you gifted and what you got. The jigsaw puzzle looks like it will be fun and frustrating at the same time.

FCM good luck with the in laws. Sounds like the penny has dropped for MIL.

I guess gooshy food followed by prime rib wasn’t enough for Goo. My wife left four escargots on the counter, and Goo ate two of them (just the snails, not the mushrooms).

He probably licked the other two!

Oh, I didn’t want to make it seem like Bob didn’t get anything. There were dog treats in the package too, but they’re long gone. Bob ate them.

She.

Actually, we found one snail on the floor.

My Buddy Boy got a new green sweater and 2 bags of treats. The kids got him and the cat, Scooter, a little stocking full of toys. The cat is 12 yrs old but she was playing like a kitten. It was a good day.

Red sorry your outing was canceled but you don’t need the plague.

I’ve not had Covid to my knowledge but have lost my sense of smell for months. Today I finally could smell garlic but it’s still not 100%. I really hope it comes back.

Now it’s on to the new year. I have black eyed peas in my Walmart delivery and will use the ham bone in them. I also want turnip greens but they may or may not have them. I will have greens of some sort though.

I have watched football all day and am watching the last game now. The Dallas game yesterday was one of the best ever.

Now I feel bad as I forgot to get Christmas special stuff for Mauser and Atilla. Well, the stores should be open tomorrow.

Ummmmm, they still have some for tomorrow! I couldn’t help it, they were staring so hard I was afraid their eyes were going to fall out.

I saw the twins swinging today and they seemed pretty happy. Their mom told me that she dresses one in red and the other in blue so she can tell who is doing what from across the yard. From what I’ve seen of them, they seem to always be doing the same thing together so that is probably a bit of a wasted effort, but they aren’t my kids, LOL.

It was very generous of you to give shoe all of your snow. I like our yearly couple of inches that melts off the next day, but I wouldn’t like it if it happened more than once or twice a year.

I am so sorry for everyone involved.

Dinner has been eaten and cleaned up. We did easy tonight, a smoked turkey breast, mashed taters, gravy and lima beans. Tomorrow we are going to my BFF’s place for their family dinner. She has three daughters and five grandkids so it will be very active. We probably won’t stay long, but hubs will want to have time to drink a couple of beers with Herk. I’ve been told to not buy toys for the grands because they have too many already, but nobody said anything about books so that’s what I am bringing. It should be fun.

Packers won, I cleaned, I napped, I made dinner. Poke loin, sweet *8N.O.T.**, stuffing, and jellied carnberry sauce inna can, since I did not get either at Turkey Day. And I had a Wisconsin Old Fashioned.

Cool gifts.

Glad Bob wasn’t left out.

Cool.

Looks like y’all(mostly) had fun.

Bailey didn’t get anything special for Christmas, either…just some extra wet food at dinnertime, because she was still hungry after her regular bowl of dry kibble + wet food. I’ve wished her a Merry Christmas several times today, though. Other than occasional short breaks to go outside, we’ve been hanging out in the living room all day. I have the oil heater going near the couch, so it’s nice and cozy in there, and I’m currently in the middle of movie #3: I decided to start today’s viewing with the new Glass Onion movie on Netflix (the Knives Out sequel), but then I dove into the holiday setting theme with Die Hard and now Trading Places. I’ve texted a few friends and exchanged a bunch of holiday wishes on Facebook, and I even talked to my dad for a few minutes (I’ll be heading to his place in about 13 hours). I’ve definitely had worse Christmases!

It’s kind of funny, but I don’t feel the loss of my mom as keenly on Christmas as I do at New Year’s. That’s always the toughest holiday for me, in terms of her not being around anymore.

Everyone has gotten/given cool stuff! Susan, the bowl inspired me to check out the Getty’s online store…some nifty things, indeed.

You didn’t have to get all scientific about it…geeze.
