I think I might be able to duck out for a day or two that weekend, actually–none of MY finals are scheduled for that weekend, and it’s not like I study. So I think I can go after all.
One question, though: if I’m under 21, am I just gonna be in the way?

For those of you considering downtown hotels, the mother’s day weekend is quite down there too and some comparative shopping should yield some pretty competitive rates.
Kinda hard to tell at this point – I mean, no hard-and-fast arrangements as to the Big Event have been made, have they?
Last year there were several groups who went to different museums and what not during the day, and then there was the big gathering at a bar downtown. Certainly you’d have the opportunity to meet some Dopers if you wanted, and not necessarily in a bar setting.
Also, didn’t some under-21 Dopers go to the Wild Onion on the Friday of ChiDope weekend last time around? So maybe there will be some pre-events at locations where they’re not as stringent about carding.

I will put in an initial room block of 15 rooms. I am looking at a $59.00 rate plus tax. That is a total of $66.38/per room/per night based on the current tax rates. Since it is a quiet weekend, I should have no problem increasing that block if demand increases.
For those who don’t remember the rules from last year:
Pleeeaaase, in order for us to continue to be able to use hotels at better than decent rates, we need to not trash rooms and be reasonable about noise in the early morning hours.
I will set each room up as double occupancy. I know there may be more than two or three in a room, but can we be resonable about that too, please? The rates really are low enough that even the poorest of us should be able to afford a room split 4 ways (Under $20.00 a piece)
I cannot match people up for share with rooms. I will continue to update the list and let you know who is willing to share a room and you can decide if you want to or not.
Finally, pleeaassee if your plans change and you cannot attend, please e-mail me so I can cancel your reservation and we have a chance to resell the room. I am not asking for c/c numbers to hold these reservations, so please, help me out with this.

that very well may be the weekend of May Fest in Lincoln Square. It’s a big giant German festival, with beer and brats and german oompah bands and fun!
