It's time for ChiDope planning

Sorry to break this all up, but since apparently ShibbOleth is attending, I would like to announce my intentions to buy the man a beer. I owe him one for sending me the West Wing episode I missed earlier this season.

Shibboleth and I?
WOO HOO!!!

bristlesage is buying me a beer!?!

WOO HOO!!!

And it’s “ShibbOleth and me?”, my melancholy Dane! Now come give Daddy a big smooch for the ladies…

WOO HOO!!!

hmmm…

methinks my calendar is still open for that weekend, if so I’ll definitely try to make it.

A calender and Me?

WOO HOO!!!

Definitely sign me up for the pizza thing.

I’d love to hook up with a Splinter Group heading for the Shedd Aquarium, or a museum.

That reminds me. Since I will be dragging up the Olethlings[sup]TM[/sup], what’s the one thing that they should not leave Chicago without seeing/doing? For reference The Girl is seven years old, just and The Boy will be five at the end of this month.

Shedd Aquarium and Me?

WOO HOO!!!

Were there some dopers interested in the Field Museum this year? Or the Art Institue (great Impressionism collection)?Although if the weather is nice, Navy Pier might be fun. Or Lincoln Park Zoo…

Is it May yet?

Shibb, that’s a tough one. When I was a little kid, I loved the Museum of Science and Industry and the Shedd Aquarium. I was a geeky kid, though (big surprise, right? ;)) I’m sure some locals with some kids will have some suggestions for you.

I’m going to let you locals hash out the details, but…the more interesting the venue the happier I’ll be.

Burbs are burbs are burbs. The more “Local” the venue the happier I’ll be.

But that’s just me

Kyla and I mentioned the Field. We’re very, very there on Saturday. Please join us, but beware of massive cases of geekitude.

chique, 'burbs definitely suck. I know. I live there. I’m sure Hamlet and Gundy will find us a great place in the city proper.

I kept forgetting to post this. Baseball fans, take note (Superdude, I’m looking at you!): The Field Museum has a new temporary exhibit, Baseball as America. Memorabilia galore. I’m definitely going to see it before May but if anyone would like to go during ChiDope weekend we will giddily escort you.

Shibb, porc’s right on about the Museum of Science and Industry (as a child I was transfixed by the lamest little thing there showing a burst of light as representative of the Big Bang) or the Shedd Aquarium. MSI is a full day excursion, though, while the Shedd (and its annexed Oceanarium with dolphins and whales and penguins, oh my!) can be completely done inside 2 1/2 hours. If you’re going to be here on Friday during the day, I’d suggest you go then to avoid Saturday crowds. The Lincoln Park Zoo is a fun two or three-hour trip, too, but if you’re staying out by O’Hare it’s a bit of a hassle to get to on public transportation, and with the Shibblings I’m not sure how much traveling you’ll want to do.

chique, believe me, I understand your concerns. I’m not really a suburban kinda broad myself, and tend to frequent smaller neighborhood bars rather than . Hamlet’s and my plan right now is to narrow down the options and then present them for voting in a new thread. And can I just say that I love porcupine for using the phrase “city proper”?

Dude. I must be the only one who knows what a complete dork Gundy is and has completely blocked her face from my memory.

Was that it or was it that I never looked at her face? I can never remember. Whatever.

Tibs.

So what part of Gundy were you looking at, Tibs?

Like I said, I don’t completely recall the specifics about those events.

And besides, it wasn’t a part, it was parts.

Tibs.

Hey, I tongue-kissed Euty last time…don’t think I wouldn’t do something similar again to see you all go at it.

I’m game. Oh, and guess what! I MAY have talked my way into one ticket for a Cubs/Cards game. Possibly.

I’m thinking about getting whatever dopers who want to go and going somewhere with CUE- Chicago Urban Exploration. I haven’t explored with them before, but I have conversed with them.

It would be an unforgetable splinter group, I promise. Persons wanting to participate would need to be in moderately good shape (and as anyone who’s seen me knows that I have a wide definition of that) and not under the influence at the time.

Oh, and everyone should start pestering TVeblen, DrMatrix and Cajun Man to come. They all want to, and they’re not far away (the Quad Cities).

Ok, anyone got any good suggestions for places to find airplane tickets online?
