Hardly. As I said before, I’m proud to be a champion of truth, justice and the American way. As such I stand by every word I’ve posted to this thread.
Well you see, luce, it’s like this: I’ve been growing increasingly disgusted with the nature of argument on this board lately. A further use of your search function would show a marked decrease in both the number and average length of my posts over the last couple of years, and very few at all during the couple of months preceeding this thread. I’ve also postef very little outside this thread while it’s been going on.
What finally tipped me over the edge though was a revelation that occurred in the wake of questions by posters here and on the Giraffe board as to what my family would think of my posts to this thread, and the simple fact is that while most would be in general agreement with me, all would be wondering what the hell I was doing spending so much time and effort arguing with so many profoundly dishonest and idiotic people in the first place, and I had to admit to myself that I wouldn’t have a good answer to give them. Thus I began to feel as foolish arguing here as I imagined it would appear to them, so I simply stopped.
There are a lot of good people on this board and there are a lot of smart people on this board. Mostly they are found in GQ, CS, IMHO and MPSIMS. I’m reminded of the time when on the Tonight Show, Judy Carne began teasing Burt Reynolds for dating Dinah Shore, saying that she’d heard he was “dating older women now.” His response? “Yeah, I figured it was time I moved up to some class!” That’s pretty much how I’m feeling now. It’s time I moved up to some class. Plus I have to admit that I’ve been enjoying life more now that I’ve been spending less time here.
So, sorry to disappoint, but I’m not going anywhere; I’m simply going to stop spending my time on posters and arguments where I couldn’t justify my participation to people I care about.
