I rarely, if ever, comment on mod actions but I, too, find this thread-merge baffling since it was suggested by another mod.

As for Red’s thread in toto – about the same ratio of disagreement I usually draw, I’d say.
I did think it was amusing how Red attempted to convince everyone he was starting the thread to disprove my claim that legions of readers agreed with me but were to timid to say so when in truth:
a.) I never said more than that it was possible not everyone disagreed with me as some might agree but be reluctant to join the fray. Drunken Fury is welcome to provide a cite to back up his assertion and disprove mine if he can.
b.) The real motive is that this thread’s posters are absolutely furious that events have proven me correct with regard to Joe Paterno and Mike McQueary’s testimony. Paterno has not remotely been shown to have known Sandusky was raping children, nor that he knowingly covered it up and allowed it to continue for the next ten years. Same with Penn State itself.
And Mike McQueary’s testimony has proven inadequate to support a conclusion of rape by a jury of his peers.
These are facts. They are incontrovertible and unassailable.
They are also what I’ve been saying all through this thread. So, I win. Everyone else who’s insisted otherwise has been proven wrong. Over and over again, no matter which tactic they try or what angle they try to attack it from.
And. that. pisses. them. right. off!
So, after many days and posts spent flailing about trying to find some way or some thing to prove me wrong about, they seized upon the idea of trying to salve their wounded pride and considerable frustration by trying to get the rest of the board to line up with them in their disagreement with me…a disagreement they still could not prove. Thus, the poll attempt that was closed, and the pseudo poll attempt that eventually wound up here. All in a failed attempt to find a solace in numbers that the facts would not allow.
But it doesn’t matter! Every one of the teeming millions could swear on whatever they find swearable that I am as wrong as it’s possible to be for as many reasons as is possible to be wrong, and the facts I listed will still remain inviolate.
You cannot win! Period!
How many times have I told you that? Give it up! The more you try, the more opportunities I have to reassert that you’re wrong.
And I revel in those opportunities, for you have picked a fight you did not expect with a driven opponent whose motivations you do not understand, and I will happily continue to rub your faces in your well deserved defeat for as long as you want to try to pretend you ever knew what you were talking about.

I can think of two possible reasons:
- Miller wasn’t aware of Idle Thought’s post
- Miller was aware of it and still felt the threads should be merged
I don’t think it’s a big deal either way
