iTunes 10.1 question

So I hesitantly downloaded the new iTunes 10.1 the other day on my Mac (I was previously using iTunes 9). When the program restarted, it said that it was updating all of these seemingly nonexistent files.

The files looked to me like MIDI sounds. They looked like (and I’m not quoting): “clar18_G” and “Cloc92_Bi”

Then, when I hooked up my iPod all of the same files were copied. What are these files?

Bumpity bump.

Have you tried listening to the files, see what they are?

If I had to guess I would say they are audio files either used by the Mac OS (system sounds like errors and new mail etc) or installed by another application. Maybe iTunes has scanned your hard drive for audio files and added them all the library and then to your iPod.

Well that’s the strange thing -they don’t show up in my iTunes library or anywhere else on my hard drive (that I know of).

If they are system files or have to do with another program, why would iTunes be reading files that haven’t been imported?

I updated to 10.1 two days ago and it deleted all the music from my iPod. Maybe iTunes is in Robin Hood mode, reallocating music from iPod to iPod.
