As people may or may not be aware, Sky is currently running test transmssions for ITV on it’s UK Digital service.
I’m not asking for the Frequency info here, but I have seen these test channels tuned in. Does anyone know of a website which has this information? I’ve searched without any luck.
Thanks in advance and sorry to all the non-UK readers who probably don’t know what I’m on about.
Wow, that’s the first time I’ve heard it mentioned outside of work. I work for OpenTV (in California) which provides the interactive platform for Sky.
I’m not sure exactly what it is you’re looking for. Reception of ITV is dependent on the set-top box in your home as much as it is on the broadcast stream. If your box isn’t capable of interactivity, the broadcast won’t do you any good.
I don’t know how their test implementation is being handled, it may be further along in some parts of the country than others. Right now you can order a pizza in some parts of Wales using a remote.
Are you looking for samples of the applications or more technical info?
FTR I’m the lead tech writer on the project that puts the interactive middleware in the set-top boxes.
Found it!
It isn’t anything to do with Open (Or Sky Active as it’s now known), it’s just that although Sky do transmit all the ITV regions, they won’t appear in the EPG until later this month (20th to be exact). I was just looking to tune them in through the “Other Channels” option.
Sky don’t want you to get this service yet, so I don’t know if I should post the tuning info here. Would it be ok to do that, eh Mods?
I’m not a mod, but I can tell you that there’s nothing illegal about tuning your receiver to any frequency you want. Sheesh, Sky really seem to have people brainwashed!
ITV1 will be on EPG channel 103 from 20 Nov, and it is believed ITV2 will be available also.
In the meantime, the ITV regions are at
10.832 GHz H, 22,000, 5/6
10.891 H (same bitrate and FEC)
10.906 V (same bitrate and FEC)

You still haven’t heard it outside of work. This ITV is Independent Television - from the old days in the UK when we had the BBC, and the ‘others’, the ITV companies. These broadcasts are regional (Scottish, Anglian, Thames, …) which has introduced problems for broadcasting on Sky.
