I've always wanted one of these...

PBY-5A Catalina.

Also one of these.

If I were rich, that PBY would be mine.

Have you seen the “Black Cat” program on the History Channel?

(BTW- I love the condition “Used”- well you would sort of expect that from a near 70 year old aircraft).

I saw the ‘Black Cat’ episode once, a long time ago. My love for the PBY goes back to when I was a kid and had a model of one, one was parked at MYF, and one was featured on The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau.

Yes, I saw the ‘used’ and was going to come back and comment on it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I want the most Art Deco plane ever: the Northrop Gamma. (with modern CCTV added)

You know those Tex Avery cartoons where the oil millionaire drives a Dusenberg three blocks long? This is the plane he’d fly.

F8F Bearcat and F7F Tigercat

And Billie Piper

I guess it’s hubris, but I’ve always wanted one of these.

Bring your checkbook.

Where would you keep it?

P-40 B preferred but I’ll take any type someone is willing to donate to me.

I’m thinking about 90 million miles from the sun. There’s lots of open space.

Would you settle for a P-40K?

And yeah, I’d gladly accept anything with an airworthiness certificate should someone wish to make a donation.

.

http://www.controller.com/ is where I’m finding the planes for sale.

If there’s anything else you’ve always wanted, I’ll leave it for you to dig up the pics.

Ok, if I have to pick an airplane rather than the air it flies through, it would be a FW-190D,

Doesn’t have to be an aircraft. But everyone knows it’s what I want, so that’s what I put in the OP.

Having googled for beautiful aircraft, I came across the Bugatti Model 100, the only racing aircraft they ever made.

Never saw it before, and I gotta say it’s the coolest looking plane I’ve ever seen, except maybe for of couple of Rutan designs.

And it just a couple hours drive away. I’ve been to the Oshkosh air show a couple of times, but never to their museum.

A couple more pics.

That’s one of the most beautiful planes I’ve ever seen!

With this vintage aircraft, do they have to be bought up to today’s safety standards to be permitted to fly? I always wonder when I see WW 1 vintage aircraft restored and flown, but I doubt that they would have the power to fit much more stuff to them.

With the possible exception of the Bugatti, they all have airworthiness certificates.

I like the PBY but there are some models that have a sort of set of ‘bubble’ windows on the fuselage behind the wings. (for observers?)
Here is one I’d love to have.
But I can’t find a P-38 for sale.

Saw both of those today…

Saw those too (B-25today, PBY a while back)
