I've been unfaithful (and I love it!)

I’ve been with my baby for about 9 months now, and we’ve always been really happy together. She’s cute, curvy, smart and really easy on the eye, and I really couldn’t have asked for more. However, last weekend I had a moment of weakness. I wanted to be strong but I cracked at the last moment and gave in to temptation. I’ve been cheating on my baby with a younger, slimmer, sexier model, and while I’m feeling a little guilty, I’m loving every second of it.

Yup, you heard right, I’ve been cheating on my iPod Mini with a new iPod Shuffle!

I really, really didn’t need one. There simply wasn’t any excuse, but it just looked so damn cute that I had to have one! So does anyone else own one, and have you been smitten?

Heh. Where do people get this disposable income is what I want to know. I live with my parents and pay only a cell phone bill, and I still don’t have enough money for an ipod shuffle. And I can get them for 88.xx bucks, too!

I could never have a shuffle, because if I’d skip around a lot. I can’t even afford and iPod or iTunes, I have a Dell and download illegally. I’d love an iPod though.

A friend of mine has one (the iPod Shuffle) and he loves it, but he’s about to get rid of it and get a Mini. As for me, I wanted one of the bigger iPods (a step above the Mini), but decided to get an XM MyFi instead. I’m lovin’ it, but I still think about that iPod, dammit.

It’s threads like this that make me hate myself. I keep thinking “No, dammit! Stop it! Buy an external hard drive!!!”, but deep down, my heart’s thinking “You know you want more useless computer devices! Look, it’s only… a lot of money for the one you actually want!”

Exactly where I stand, buddy.

It’s the triumph of marketing over sense. I want one but have absolutely no practical use for it. I have all my CDs ripped to my hard drive (no illegals for me, no kidding!) so I can shuffle those if I want and in the car I’ve got XM.

Yet it stills calls to me.

Howdy, Bib! Long time, no see! You should stop by and say hi more often…

That said, I am loyal to my own sleek, sexy, well-pit-together number - except I love it for the control I have over it. It’s the Mini, and what they say is really true - size isn’t everything. Sometimes a girl’s gotta gotta have finesse at her fingertips.

they are GREAT if you do any traveling … and unless your hard drive is in a laptop, that would be a tad difficult for you.

(just trying to help you justify it, if you want it :D)

I am thrilled to finally have one, so I can bring my music with me when I go to visit my brother in Germany.

I really want an iPod, and I was even saving to spring for the 40 GB model, but my Dell computer is 4 1/2 years old and still runs Windows ME, so it is incompatible. :frowning:

Ok guys… I’m in hard drive heaven. I went to newegg.com last night, and at the prodding of a guy to whom I bow down in the computer knowledge department, got a Maxtor hard drive. I’ll soon (hopefully before the weekend, but I doubt it), be the owner of a ghetto 200gig external hard drive (internal + enclosure), that I’m sure will be full of porn before the end of the summer. Grand total 148.98 after shipping.

Hearing other people talk about buying stuff they don’t need makes me feel less guilty whenI do it.

The one nice thing about getting older (and theoretically getting better jobs) is that your definition of “whim” changes. In my early 20’s, I’d dither for * months * over some $60.00 purchase. Now the range has changed by an order of magnitude or two. New digital camera? Well…why am I spending nice summer days in this cubicle if not to buy digital cameras? (The $6000.00 roof repair – well, let me think about that one for a while, alas.)

But…I still haven’t bought an iPod shuffle.

I have an Ipod shuffle. It’s my only Ipod. I like it. I have the sport case to go with it. It is more comfortable to wear around my neck when I do cardio than any other walkman type thing would be. The small size was a real plus for me.

I am trying to figure out if there is a way I could factor an audiobook in with the songs, or if the “shuffle” nature of it makes that impractical.

Between us, Crusoe and I have 3. I have my darling little mini iPod - in pink! - he has the full-size version AND a Shuffle. The hussy.
