I've earned a half mil . . . where'd it go?

Got my annual statement from our new, improved, friendlier Social Security Administration today. Adding up the numbers, I discover that sometime during the current year, I’ve passed the the half-million-dollar mark in lifetime earnings. Small change to a lot of people in the technology biz, but some kind of minor milestone for me at least. It was also gratifying to reflect that each year’s taxable income has exceeded the previous year’s, at least since I bailed out of grad school.

Anybody else looked at this out of curiosity and been surprised at what you found?

yeah you always keep paying more tax

they call it inflation = earnings + X BUT (prices = (+X)+2))

and oh boy when UK finally joins the EU they want a Euro tax oh yippie , and what you say? i have to pay road tax and motorway tolls too ? and more? yeah VAT(sales tax) 17.5% on everything not forgetting 80% tax on my petrol
