I've got a lump on the roof of my mouth, should I be worried ?

I had an awful toothache a few weeks ago, I saw a dentist and she said I needed to get it pulled, but she didn’t do that, so she gave me an antiboitic and sent me on my way to an oral surgeon.

The oral surgeon couldn’t see me for a few weeks and I finished my antibiotic. A little while later the pain in my tooth came back, but this time there is a lump on the roof of my mouth too. It’s painful when I touch it, but just annoying otherwise. It’s sort of close to my rotten tooth, but not too close. I went to the ER because of the pain and they gave me more antibiotics.

My appointment with the oral surgeon is on Monday, but in the meantime, I was wondering if this lump is related to my tooth or if it’s something else.

Thanks.

I had a little lump on the roof of my mouth after I had my wisdom teeth pulled. It wasn’t painful, just annoying. The dentist said it was a blocked salivary gland duct. It cleared up on its own in a couple of weeks.

It could be an abcess. I’ve had one near a bad tooth (but not on it) before. IANAD, but see if being back on the antibiotics helps. If it doesn’t, call your dentist.
