So my Venerable New England College ™ is now in the midst of enormous budget cuts. They haven’t particularly been handling it well; decisions have included closing one of the most popular libraries. Little or no student input has been considered in this process.

And then recently they announced, without warning, that the swimming and diving teams were going to be cut. Students are, to put it mildly, a wee bit upset about this.

As such, I am most amused to see this floating around.

$211,000 dollars lying about, anyone?

I didn’t notice, but was that for the men’s team, women’s team, or both? For both that’s not a bad price.

I wouldn’t think this would be much of a savings. I mean, once you pony up the bucks to build the pool, the year-to-year expense shouldn’t be very much. How much does it cost to buy a couple dozen Speedos?

Very funny… teams can run on pretty low budgets though… I bet both teams could get by on half that.
