Any ideas? http://www.aclu.org doesn’t offer any apparent help, but if anyone here knows the site better than I, feel free to correct me. They do have a “feedback” section, but I’m rather certain that this isn’t the kind of thing they handle.
I’ve considered that, and I’m not opposed to sending them an extra few bucks, but I would imagine that if I just went through the normal on-line donation process they’d recognize me as a current member and not bother with the new card.
Well, thank you, december, for your amazingly helpful message. I invite you to Great Debates, where such a statement would be (rightfully) torn to shreds.
As for the OP, I wasn’t aware they even gave out membership cards. I didn’t get one when I signed up…but if you ARE supposed to get one, I’d love to find out how.
My WAG would be that they stopped giving out cards, though. Have you tried calling them?
I think those of you that joined probably did receive a card. The thing is, it’s not made out of hard plastic like a credit card. It’s paper and you have to remove it from an ACLU “thank you” letter by tearing along the performations. As far as getting a replacement card, I would give them a phone call.
This page say <<If you have any questions about ACLU membership, please contact us via email or by phone at (212) 549-2585.>>
Perhaps you could check with associated organizations for info! I’d try the National Organization for Women, the Gay/Lesbian Alliance, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, etc. Or you could just contact the Communist Party directly; I’m sure they could fix you up!
