I've never eaten Hamburger Helper...

Am I missing anything?

Sub-Par pasta and bland seasonings.

I don’t know if they still make it, but there used to be a HH meatloaf that I really liked. It came with almost everything- maybe you had to add an egg and a little milk?- including it’s own little disposable pan and tomato sauce topping. It was good. Other than that, no, you’re not missing anything.

I find tuna helper delicious, but it’s so high in fat/calories that I don’t eat it all that often.

I’m not a fan of hamburger helper, but the Chicken Helper Cheesy Chicken Enchilada, plus a lot of hot sauce and cayenne pepper, is delicious.

I like Tuna Helper, too, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

It’s fine without the hamburger, too.

Once you realize that you can buy the ingredients in HH in bulk for far less money, it’s pretty pointless. Better pasta, better seasoning, less salt and less fat.

The last time I had Hamburger Helper, it came in a christmas hamper my mom gave me.

I still feel really bad about wasting that hamburger - that stuff just tastes like poverty and illness.

That’s what I say about those disgusting ramen noodle packages that are like 5 for a dollar- “smells like poverty”.

Is there a name for the food that Hamburger Helper is, separate from the brand name? Because thats a pretty good, at least by the standard of quick homemade bachelor food.

But the stuff in a box is both gross and a rip-off.

Well, there’s so many different varieties of Hamburger helper. It’s mostly variations on hamburger & macaroni.

“I don’t know why they call this stuff hamburger helper, it does just fine by itself.”

Stroganoff? Casserole? I know what you mean, you can make piles of great food in college with just some burger, noodles, cream of mushroom and an onion.

Yep. We used to eat HH when I was a kid/teen. Now when I see it in the store, I think ‘What’s the point?’

I just dropped by to say “If you’re not adding hamburger, it might taste like you’re missing something…”.

But now I’m reminded that Cousin Eddie said it much more eloquently than I could’ve.

Me either!!

Bachelor Chow?

Could be a whole new market for Purina.

As for HH - it’s not half as tasty as it used to be, but I’ll keep a box or two in the back of the pantry as a backup for those nights when we just need to knock together something for dinner quickly.

Purina’s afraid to take on MomCorp.

Salt. You are missing salt.

I wish they had massively low sodium versions. I’ve seen reduced sodium, but they still taste like salt has been poured over them.

I didn’t mind the Jambalaya one, though.
