IYHO what is the best way to clear up credit history?

So my credit rating just took a big dump. Seems like my ex-wife is behind on a few bills and they are now in collections. Noting to do with me but it showed up on my credit rating. That is after years of working back from the mess she made of my credit rating.

So what is the best way to try and clear things up? Credit Karma has a link to Lexington Law who helps clear up credit histories. I am not against paying money for good effect (and saving me time and aggravation). Has anyone used that company? What did you do to fix things?

Well, the first thing is to get your name off of any bills for which your ex-wife is responsible.

After that, get current on everything, stay current on everything, and wait it out.

Don’t pay anyone else a dime. It’s usually a waste of money, and their primary service to you is to negotiate down settlements. I’m not sure if that would be any help to you.
