Jack in the Box in Chicago?

nm

No, there weren’t.

104th and Western? I would have sworn that it was on Cicero, but I was high a lot back then. It could have been Western. Good thing I wasn’t driving.

late 60’s Jack in the Box, located on Chicago Ave. near Michigan Ave 2nd Floor it could never compete with “CHAR DOG” at Chicago Ave. near State St.

They use ground up Zombies in those things! :stuck_out_tongue:

Few things lower than a JITB taco. They reminded me of the ones I got in the high school cafeteria in the late 70’s. Last one I had was on Maui.

I noticed they stopped asking if you wanted Jack Sauce on your burger.

Let’s move this to Cafe Society. Note that this thread was started in 2006.

I don’t care when the thread was started. There’s nothing about Jack in the Box that makes it suitable for anything called “Cafe Society.”

Miss their tacos, and looked them up on line.

The hell? they are putting lettuce on their tacos now?

No, no no. What happened to their deep fried clam shell… thing.

If anyone has a nostalgic craving for a JitB taco, you might try a Burger King taco. I don’t know if all locations serve them, but the one on Fullerton near DePaul does. They are very reminiscent of the old Jack tacos.

There was definitely one in Skokie back in the '70s…I’m pretty sure it was on Dempster between McCormick and Crawford.

It’s still deep-fried. They don’t use standard cheese (shredded cheddar), it’s more like a single slice of American (same cheese on the burgers) folded in half.

The tacos are totally wrong and should be horrible but are somehow delicious. And cheap, they were 2/$1 for years but recently went up to (IIRC) $1.30 for two. Still a good value.

They also have fancier tacos that cost more (with sour cream, or nacho cheese and jalapeños, or bacon and ranch) but not worth it really.

What? Those tacos are good. Not Mexican Restaurant good but good for fast food.

Were they actually deep frying their tacos? I always thought they tasted like they did.

I think there was one on Irving Park Rd. just east of the Kennedy expressway.
