Jai Paul - Jasmine

I’m late to the party, as usual, but in the last few weeks I’ve been grooving on this track, Jasmine by Jai Paul, quite a bit.

What do you all think? Love it? Hate it? Ambivalent? Some say it changed present day pop music. http://www.dazeddigital.com/music/article/37374/1/how-jai-paul-changed-the-sound-of-pop-with-just-two-songs

It has the format/structure of what I expect in a pop song - in the way it (forgive me – I don’t have the musical vocabulary) builds on itself each verse, adding layers and energy on each repeat until it peaks at about 4 fifths of the way through, then, slows out and finishes. A common pop structure that I understand.

But the rest is more intriguing. The article linked above said it’s like listening to the negative of a Michael Jackson track. I agree it’s something like that. I’m going to listen some more and try to explain what I like about it.
