Jake Lloyd is 20 years old today, where has my life gone?

I mean seriously, it simply does not seem that long ago ago that he was “forced” as a young boy to recite horrible dialogue in the first Star Wars Prequel? His acting chops were pretty poor, but they certianly weren’t help by the Lucas script.

Yikes! I am getting old fast!

Wow, no kidding, huh?

Nothing pithy to add … just weird that decades go by like months now.

Ha, ha! It’s funny because you spelled “12” wrong.

please let it be this!

Or the Lucas direction. Uncle George has managed to make far more experienced actors than Jake Lloyd come across as wooden, so I don’t blame the kid.

I wish, but he turned 20 today.

He was 10 when the movie came out; they cast him in part because he looked younger than he was.

I noticed he’s only done one film in the last decade. “Madison” was filmed in 2001, but sat on the shelf for four years, until 2005. Of course, Jake’s been busy growing up and attending college, too.

Prior to Phantom Menace I had seen him in what has since been one of my favorite movies- Nick Cassavettes’ Unhook the Stars*. He was good in that movie, and since I love it so much I will always have affection for the darn kid- an affection that “Yipee!” does not diminish.

*Your good friend, bienville, highly recommends this movie. One of the rare occasions of a great LEAD role for an older actress (the director’s own mommy, Gena Rowlands), with a great supporting performance by Marisa Tomei- also, Moira Kelly is in it, and Moira Kelly is super cute.
typo

Jake Lloyd, eh? I can remember when he was being considered for the lead in Ender’s Game. Man, what a disaster that movie would’ve been…

Give the kid…er… man a break. Most 10 year olds can’t really act; obviously there are exceptions. He did fine…sheesh.

I saw him at Dragoncon last September. Sounds like fanboys haven’t made it easy on him. He said his family had to move twice since Phantom Menace, for security reasons. He also said he would like to get back in the biz, but hasn’t decided infront of the camera or behind.
