Jane Austen Audiobooks in Greek?

A friend just asked how it might be possible to get hold of audio versions of Jane Austen’s books in Greek. It’s for an elderly relation who does not live in Greece and is going blind, so she would love to listen to them.

Does anyone know if there are any professionally read Austen books available in Greek?

Or would my best bet be to find a translated text and see if there is a good text to audio programme available?

Since some silly bot just stole my thread title, I just wanted to bump this one, in case people have any suggestions.

Haven’t been able to find any audiobooks and not even any translations. Does anyone know whether there is a Greek version of Project Gutenberg out there where I could find Jane Austen novels?

There are Greek translations available. Some in libraries.

Maybe read them yourself. I have got away with recording stuff for people who can’t read or read books to them and I don’t think I have a very attractive reading voice. No-one complains.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I don’t speak Greek.
My idea was to use a text-to-speech program and was therefore looking for an online version of a translation, but it seems that the first Greek translation of a Jane Austen book was done in 1950, so it would not be public domain yet.

Amazon sell audiobooks. You might try asking them to check with their Greek colleagues.

Here’s a list of Hellenic cultural associations in the US. Try contacting some of them. You may find one with a lending library that contains tapes of novels.

Thank you all!
