And yes, the morning “Wide” shows this morning were all about the birth, and how wonderful of the father, Prince Akishino is.

That, of course, is because their measure of a wonderful father is how good he is at squirting out Y-chromasomes.
Which means that I don’t need to do anything more now, I guess.
Well, looks pretty official now.
Abe has already decided to shelve proposal for female to ascend to Imperial throne
Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe, the frontrunner in the race to succeed outgoing Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, decided this past spring to shelve an advisory panel’s proposal to allow female members of the Imperial Family to accede to the throne, sources close to him said.
…
After taking power, Abe will instruct the government to freeze any discussion on the recommendation and decide whether to scrap the issue after closely assessing public opinion on the matter and the views of LDP legislators, according to the sources.
At a news conference on Wednesday, the chief Cabinet secretary called for caution in discussing revisions to the law. “Amending the Imperial House Law is an extremely important issue, and should be cautiously and calmly discussed. It’s necessary to form a consensus among the public.”
By not discussing the matter at all, apparently.
