Japanese Monty Python

I bought a Monty Python video here in Japan a while back, and the Japanese-English blurb on the box deserves to be reproduced in full:

“MONTY PYTHON IS BACK!!
Monty Pythons Flying Circusis back now - a comedy legend for everyone in the world who are almost killed by the death of laugh! Bet you cannot stop laughing with the fool, radical and merciless six guys. If you get this, there is no dread, for example a cataclysm or a sacking!. ThisParrot Sketch Not Includedpresented by Steve Martin is the digest cuts from their magnificent nonsense world. There also includes some exclusive sketches. this and forthcomingMonty Pythons Flying Circus series in 14 volumes consists of all 45 episodes would surely be the MUST-ONE to survive the violently 21st century with a big laugh?”

I swear I have not made this up.

So if I buy a Monty Python collection, I don’t have to fear a cataclysm or a sacking, huh?

I wonder if any of the Pythons had a hand in translating that.

Those responsible for the erroneous translations have been sacked.

That’s hilarious! I do have to wonder if someone intentionally wrote it in the “Engrish” style. If so, they did a good job.

You oughta submit that to www.engrish.com

Ah, The Joke That Won The War. Classic.
