I saw a showing of Jaws at the Boston Pops last month, the orchestra played the entire soundtrack in sync with the movie. It’s definitely passed the Imax showing of a few years ago as the best Jaws viewing experience I’ve ever had.
And a reminder - Jaws 2 is expendable, Jaws 3 & 4 should not be watched under any circumstances.
Other than the original, even the actors in them don’t like them, why would we want to watch?
Well, as a fan of 3D movies, I think that Jaws 3D can be watched, as long as it’s in 3D. Otherwise, forget it. It even stole the plot from the movie Gorgo
The NYT has a data reporting team named Upshot. A few days ago they disassembled Jaws into 9 sequential story components and discussed how later monster features used some or often all of them. Here it is; I add emphasis: “The creature stalks the remote location and attacks the first victim. Next, the reluctant hero challenges the local authority and enlists the experts. Finally, the sacrifice leads to the confrontation and the creature’s death”. It’s a durable template.
They briefly compare how various movies handle each of the components and end with a chart listing 50 films and which boxes they check off. I’m a total geek: I love this stuff.

How can you talk about 3-D movies without mentioning Dr. Tongue’s 3-D House of Stewardesses?
