About four years ago, someone asked for advice on finding some mellow jazz that was sophisticated but not too challenging. I can’t find the thread now, but the Doper consensus was…<drum roll>…Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue.
Kind of a no-brainer, right? In fact, I think I’ve seen KOB cited as THE most popular jazz recording in everybody’s collection where there’s at least one jazz record. I bet Brubeck’s Time Out is a tight second, if not #1, in similar situations. The fun thing would be: what’s #3?
